Kinda safe but it will feel dangerous at night specially in winter. But in summer will be much more better. There are a lot of homeless on the street side, in the store or on the metro. Remember ignore them

Not the safest city, I can say very dangerous even during the day, not only one time I was asked by guys during the walk home at evening “do you wanna go to my house, what if you have a boyfriend?” ; not only one time my phone was about to be stolen; not only one time I was harassed by bums in metro for not giving them money …
Posted: September 10, 2025Brussels is a relatively safe city, but its the capital of both Belgium and Europe, so there is a certain level of crime. The past few months tensions have been high in the centre due to daily protests for Palestina, 2 stbbings happened in 2 weeks. There are some places near Bruxelles Midi where drugscriminals rule, but all in all Brussels is not a city i would qualify as dangerous as loads of US cities. Inform yourself, stay safe and you will have a wonderful time
Posted: August 27, 2025I went to Brussel some times and i didn't feel like in a safe place. I saw drug dealer sold their drugs in front of the police. Some guys whistled at me and approached inappropriately in the street. The entire city is not like that i know it. But now i feel a bit stressed when i go there.

I spent 2,5 days in Brussels and half a day in Bruges. I loved the European District, especially the House of European History, the Parlamentarium and the Hemicycle visit. If you're interested in politics or history, it's definitely worth a visit. I stayed at IBIS (city centre) and felt quite safe, though I was overly careful after reading reviews about how unsafe Brussels is supposed to be. The only place I felt worried was Brussels Midi Train Station. People were begging in front of the escalators, in such a way that you can hardly get off the escalator without them being directly in your face. There is a high police presence at this train station though, so in spite of my experience, I did not feel genuinely unsafe. I would, however, keep a closer look on my belongings in this area. I had to ask for directions in Brussels a few times and people were always kind and helpful. One more thing: If you take the underground, be aware that they have multiple lines driving on the same tracks at the same platform! Make sure you get on the right train.
