Vienna is a very friendly City! Locals are very nice but when it‘s Dark and you are alone make sure to avoid lonely streets and Parks but i think thats normal in every City. At crowded places make sure to keep your Money and phone Close to you
Posted: May 16, 2025It's relatively safe. Just watch out for cars and trams. Areas like central train station (Hauptbahnhof), Floridsdorf, Simmering and the inner City are not recommended to walk alone in the night. But other than that it's safe and people will help if they see you need it.

Vienna is generally safe and many people agree on fact that it is one of the safest cities in Europe. However, I would advice you to avoid Gumpendorfer Strasse and be very cautious on U6 line and S-bahn
Posted: May 4, 2025vienna is actually very safe, especially compared to other big cities. i’m just a naturally cautious (and easily scared) person, and i live a bit outside the center, so sometimes i feel a bit uneasy at night. but overall, i’ve never had a bad experience here!
Posted: April 30, 2025Vienna is by far one of the safest cities I’ve ever lived in. I can walk around at night without feeling the slightest bit unsafe. People are incredibly polite and respectful, and they go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable. On top of that, the crime rate is impressively low, which adds to the overall sense of security.

I felt very safe throughout my trip to Vienna—clean streets, friendly locals, and efficient public transport. I'd highly recommend visiting Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Museum, and taking a stroll through the Naschmarkt. Skip the touristy cafes near Stephansplatz and head to Café Central instead for an authentic experience. I stayed at a mid-range hotel near Mariahilfer Straße, which was great for both shopping and transit access. My daily budget was around €50, covering food, transport, and entry fees. I used the Vienna City Card which made getting around by tram and metro easy and affordable. Here's a brief itinerary: Day 1 - MuseumsQuartier and Leopold Museum; Day 2 - Schönbrunn Palace and Zoo; Day 3 - Danube Tower and Prater. Don’t miss trying Wiener Schnitzel at Figlmüller and the Sacher Torte at Café Sacher!

Hi, my name is Julia. I am Brazilian History student currently living in Austria, and I'm really curious about other people's cultures and histories. I'm doing two semesters abroad soon, to Sweden and Germany, and trying to plan my next trips (I would love to go to Iran and Uzbekistan!)
