Graz is not a very dangerous city at all, Vienna is far worse and even Vienna is great compared to other cities in the world. Just like everywhere there are creeps in Graz that will catcall you but neither I nor any of my friends have ever had any problem after just continueing walking, just ignore the creeps, they're probably just drunk out of their mind. Also, again just like in every bigger city, there are places to avoid if you want to limit risk and avoid danger, in Graz that place would be the Griesplatz. While it is a very multicultural place it's also rather dangerous and the hygiene in the restaurants / shops is also rather bad. There's also the Triester-Siedlung which has by far the most instances in Graz. Most people living in Graz avoid both the Triester-Siedlung and the Griesplatz, especially because you only go there to drive through anyways.
Posted: September 15, 2025I would say that Graz is a fairly safe city. I’ve never been mugged nor robbed or attacked in any way. But I have been catcalled at nights, I can’t lie but thankfully there hasn’t happened anything worse than that.
Posted: September 4, 2025graz as a whole is a pretty safe city though there are always areas to avoid after dark like the stadtpark. i find the augarten park to be nice and safer after dark but only with friends. i‘ve been out often in the early AM on my way home from clubs and i‘ve never had any man try to attack me or hurt me physically in the three years i‘ve lived here. unfortunately there are still plenty of men who will stare a bit and catcall. for poc it can also be difficult because many tend to stare and microaggressions are very common. occasionally there are people who will say something racist directly to you.
Posted: August 18, 2025I think Graz is overall a really nice and safe city. During the night there are, like in every city, a few places you maybe you should not visit. But in my 2 years living in Graz I almost never felt unsafe.
Posted: June 15, 2025I believe that the city council prioritizes the citizens’ safety and there’s plenty of police officers around. However, there’s always the possibility to be at the wrong place at the wring time, and bad people will do bad things, so I am wary most of the time.

I feel most people are nice here. I recommend the mountain Schöckel. As a Chinese I’m not used to eating traditional food in Graz but Italian restaurants never disappointed me. Every meal cost about 10-30 Euro. I rent a room for 500 Euro a month because i have to work here for one year
