I believe that the city council prioritizes the citizens’ safety and there’s plenty of police officers around. However, there’s always the possibility to be at the wrong place at the wring time, and bad people will do bad things, so I am wary most of the time.
Posted: June 1, 2025It depends in which part you are. I would avoid Griesplatz, Volksgarten, and some parts of Stadtpark at night. During the day there no dangerous parts of graz, exept Volksgarten. Save places of graz at night are Kaise Josef platz, Lendplatz and Schlossberg for example:)
Posted: May 31, 2025Graz is quite safe, I never feel afraid to be alone as a woman. I'm also not afraid to be alone in the evening, there are some strange people but they don't do any harm. In Graz I also don't actually always feel safe.
Posted: May 27, 2025Graz is a very safe city, I mostly even feel safe walking by myself at night. There are few areas (around hauptbahnhof or gries) where I'd recommend to be more aware and pay attention to your surroundings, but even there it's not very unsafe. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, just call an Uber or a taxi, they're available anywhere - better be safe than sorry :)

The city areas nearby the main railway station is not the safest one ever, but I wouldn't say that it's a city full of criminals. There're not much people in the streets already after 8 pm. In the city center it is safe though.
Posted: May 1, 2025Graz is totally safe. I often have to go home alone in the dark and I have never experienced something threatening. I usually ride my bike, so I have less experience with the bus and tram, but I would say they are safe too.

I feel most people are nice here. I recommend the mountain Schöckel. As a Chinese I’m not used to eating traditional food in Graz but Italian restaurants never disappointed me. Every meal cost about 10-30 Euro. I rent a room for 500 Euro a month because i have to work here for one year
Posted: November 7, 2024Graz is really safe and beautiful city. I am living it in here for 2 months and i am happy in here. If you want to travel around city you should use bikes. It is way easier and cheap way of doing it. I think you will enjoy here!
