I feel very safe around the city especially when I’m in the center of it. The public transport is safe and there are many people using it even at night time. Only thing I am always concerned about is when I am around Gries. I always try to skip the Griesplatz at nighttime. Nonetheless as previously mentioned the rest of the inner city really feels safe -also there are many lights so on the most streets it’s not dark which also makes it feel entirely different.
Posted: March 31, 2025It’s just a calm and small city. Not much to worry about :) I would just avoid Griesplatz - that’s quite sketchy. When it is a holiday, and there are a lot of people on the streets, I maybe would not go in the city center - there have been accident with cars… None of the less, you can visit Graz alone as a women
Posted: February 2, 2025Graz is very safe, you can walk alone at night without feeling in danger. The eastern part of the city is less livable, but I have been there a lot and I did not feel in danger even at night. It is a student city.
Posted: January 16, 2025Graz is safe, most of the time. I can walk at night and no one talks to me. I feel safe and there are only a few times where I felt harassed. Most at night but most of the time nothing ever happend to me. You need to be more careful when one of the soccer clubs are playing but otherwise it is pretty safe

Graz is very safe in a global aspect! Most people are very nice and considerate. There‘s weirdos and shitty people / gross men everywhere in the world and Graz is no exception but there‘s lots of good people here too and I feel pretty safe walking around by myself. Crime rate is relatively low as well. I had my bike stolen which is very sad and not uncommon here but apart from that you don‘t really need to be scared to be robbed or mugged

Quite alright, I think there are no places were you coundt go. To get catcalled is sometimes normal especially at night, but that one if the badest things that can happen. Overall its a nice little City, where you can have lots if fun.
Posted: January 3, 2025I go home alone in the dark regularly, and dont feel scared. Subjectively, crime is not an issue at all. Same with stealing. Its more in the city centre or at specific spots that you need to be careful (like the Stadtpark or Jakominiplatz at Night) but thats less because of robbers but more because of drunk people. As a girl i feel mostly save everywhere except maybe the Train station- but there is always security and police… at the clubs there will always be assholes that think they can touch you- but they get thrown out as soon as someone notices it. Be careful with Knockout - drops.. they are not common at all but still bw cautious!

I would say Graz is relatively safe, but of course you still have to be careful because something can happen anywhere. Fortunately, nothing has happened to me yet. But as a woman walking around alone in the dark (and feeling safe) I don't think I would in any city.

As long as you know which places you should avoid especially when its dark, there theres no problem going somwhere during the Night and experiencing the city at every time of the day!
Posted: December 23, 2024I've been living there for 2 years now and never felt anything negative. It's very usual for me to go home in the middle of the night and nothing wrong happened till this day. However there may be districts that are safer than others. Maybe I'm lucky. As far as I've heard the area at the other side of the Mur is not very safe. Also the Stadtpark I've heard they're dealing drugs there at night. But I've never experienced it myself.

I feel most people are nice here. I recommend the mountain Schöckel. As a Chinese I’m not used to eating traditional food in Graz but Italian restaurants never disappointed me. Every meal cost about 10-30 Euro. I rent a room for 500 Euro a month because i have to work here for one year
Posted: November 7, 2024Graz is really safe and beautiful city. I am living it in here for 2 months and i am happy in here. If you want to travel around city you should use bikes. It is way easier and cheap way of doing it. I think you will enjoy here!

I’m quite extroverted and open to new experiences. Talking with people can always make me excited and energetic. I am now in Graz for an exchange program at KF Uni Graz. I also had an exchange experience in Hong Kong, which was wonderful.

I‘m an outgoing and confident girly, i‘m a musician and a photographer, and i like to describe my personality with the „orange cat energy“ 🐈🤓 I love outdoor activities like going for walks, swimming, bouldering, volleyball, et but not to an extreme extend 🥲 I like a chill hike but anything more than that is probably too much for me. So I‘m happy to go outside and do stuff but if you‘re keen to just have a chill cozy couch day I‘m cool with that too. :) I‘m into good food, music, photography, (board) games, arts and crafts and I love a good spa day. ⛲️ Mental health and spirituality is very important to me! I respect all believes but please don‘t bring your religion into my home. I‘m happy to learn about it but I just care about who you are as a person and how you treat other people, no matter what your religion. :)
