Vienna is a very friendly City! Locals are very nice but when it‘s Dark and you are alone make sure to avoid lonely streets and Parks but i think thats normal in every City. At crowded places make sure to keep your Money and phone Close to you

Salzburg is in comparison to other cities very safe - I have often times walked alone through the city at night without any negative incidence, also walking home from the main station. That being said, of course things happen like everywhere! If you keep your guard up and avoid the Lehener park at night, it should be pretty safe.
Posted: May 14, 2025It's relatively safe. Just watch out for cars and trams. Areas like central train station (Hauptbahnhof), Floridsdorf, Simmering and the inner City are not recommended to walk alone in the night. But other than that it's safe and people will help if they see you need it.

I feel safe, there. I live near vienna so the people sometimes are a little crazy because of drugs but in general i feel pretty safe. You sometimes get looked at weirdly by some but besides that i never experienced anything bad.

I grew up in Salzburg, and I have never felt uncomfortable or threatened here. The city is very safe, with a strong police presence at all times. I live almost in the city center, and I often walk, take the bus, or use Uber to get home late at night without any issues.

You can go everywhere because we have so many young people living here. Everything looks cute so you feel safe. I like the river and how I can sit there without feeling watched. You can always go into the mountains, into the park or drink a coffe.

Vienna is generally safe and many people agree on fact that it is one of the safest cities in Europe. However, I would advice you to avoid Gumpendorfer Strasse and be very cautious on U6 line and S-bahn

It is a quiet town, with a high level of safey. After the dark, very few people are out. The main disadvantage is that public transport doesn't run in the night, and ordering taxis is not easy if one does not speak German.

The city areas nearby the main railway station is not the safest one ever, but I wouldn't say that it's a city full of criminals. There're not much people in the streets already after 8 pm. In the city center it is safe though.
Posted: May 1, 2025vienna is actually very safe, especially compared to other big cities. i’m just a naturally cautious (and easily scared) person, and i live a bit outside the center, so sometimes i feel a bit uneasy at night. but overall, i’ve never had a bad experience here!

I went on a trip with my friend and we had fun, I felt pretty safe, we used the metro to get around and we didn't have any inconvenience. We visited the main attraction and explored the city a little, the prices we're a little bit high but it's Vienna so I was expecting that. Overall we had fun and enjoyed the city.
Posted: May 12, 2025In Austria, I went to Vienna and Salzburg. I stayed a little more than a week. It was a very stunning country and definitely safe. If you stay in Vienna I highly recommend the Nashmarkt hostel. However, March was a bit chilly, rainy, and cloudy. I would recommend visiting here in the summer.

Hi, my name is Julia. I am Brazilian History student currently living in Austria, and I'm really curious about other people's cultures and histories. I'm doing two semesters abroad soon, to Sweden and Germany, and trying to plan my next trips (I would love to go to Iran and Uzbekistan!)

Hi, my name is Nathalie and I live in Hohenems, Austria. I am planning to travel a lot this year. My plan is first going to Italy in august and september, then to spain and greece. After that - At the end of september until November - I am planning to go to Costa Rica, Colombia, maybe Mexico and Venezuela. Whatever is possible. In November I want to travel to Thailand and Indonesia until January. That is the plan I have in my head. Maybe someone can give me some advices or ideas - I am open to it and happy to hear from you. ♥️
