Graz is not a very dangerous city at all, Vienna is far worse and even Vienna is great compared to other cities in the world. Just like everywhere there are creeps in Graz that will catcall you but neither I nor any of my friends have ever had any problem after just continueing walking, just ignore the creeps, they're probably just drunk out of their mind. Also, again just like in every bigger city, there are places to avoid if you want to limit risk and avoid danger, in Graz that place would be the Griesplatz. While it is a very multicultural place it's also rather dangerous and the hygiene in the restaurants / shops is also rather bad. There's also the Triester-Siedlung which has by far the most instances in Graz. Most people living in Graz avoid both the Triester-Siedlung and the Griesplatz, especially because you only go there to drive through anyways.

None of the inappropriate encounters I had here compare to what happened to me in any other city: a "no" was always enough, the population outside at night has a good enough man/woman ratio and the transportation is safe. Here you can go to the bus driver and tell them you aren't safe : I have once been in a tram where the driver kicked a guy out after a woman said something. I do go out at night. But to be fair: I never go to Meidling and Favoriten. I also think that my skin colour and my very simple clothing style do not attract the attention of mean intended men.

Vienna is a very safe city, although it is very large. Like every city it depends on the places and districts. Overall, the tourist places and train stations are super save and I never even worried for a minute.
Posted: September 12, 2025I would say that Graz is a fairly safe city. I’ve never been mugged nor robbed or attacked in any way. But I have been catcalled at nights, I can’t lie but thankfully there hasn’t happened anything worse than that.

Altach is a very small village in Austria near the mountains. It is very safe, i don‘t know about a accident or murder or anything dangerous. The people are all really friendly and are mostly open minded. However the train station is in the middle of the night sometimes a bit sketchy because the village is so small and in the trains you are often alone

I felt safe, i had a lot of fun with my family, but I struggled with food because I'm vegetarian. The city is beautiful and FULL of history and art. I loved it. I suggest you to visit the museum of the war because it is underrated
