Hi I ended up here after being one of the few female hosts on couchsurfing in Florence, Italy and dealt with harrassment stories every other day. Which is the reason why I never use it myself abroad. Apart from that I love my country and know it quite well and I have a list of countries you might help me visit. I'm curious and entertaining don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about Italy I actually enjoy watching my country through the eyes of foreigners.

Grace
Hey! I’m Grace, born and raised in Australia. I moved to the US but ended up studying abroad in Italy for the semester. I’m a huge traveler, and love meeting new people on the go. It’s always been a dream of mine to explore the underground, niche areas of Europe, and so far so good. I love being able to connect with others in new places, and wanted to take the opportunity to meet other travelers in a safe and fun manner. Feel free to reach out, as I’m always ready for my next adventure with new friends!

Overall very safe place for travelers! Almost everyone speaks English so communication has never been an issue throughout the time I’ve spent here! there’s so many things to do and see here, from the main attractions like the Duomo to the local gelato shops, you could spend weeks just exploring the city and not run out of things to do!

I am loving Florence. It’s gorgeous and inspiring. I felt safe most of the time. I recommend staying by nice too rusty spots at night. There’s always people in the nice areas so it’s very safe. Don’t wonder to a new place off the main tourist spots as there are dark alleys. I stayed at the Santa Maria Novella which was a great location. Close to everything and really safe. Their atmosphere is elegant and super fun at night.
Posted: November 7, 2023Florence is a small but charming city, full of art and culture. You can visit it in 4 days, but there are lots of other places to see nearby! You can cross Tuscany in less than 3 hours and it's full of beautiful nature, good food and culture. There are literally so many good restaurants to try, but I recommend cheap "taverna" or "osteria" outside the city center, they have the real Italian food!!😉 It's not expensive if you avoid "tourists traps", but you have to find an accomodation outside the centre, in "Campi Bisenzio" or "Calenzano" for example. They are well connected, with trains every 30 minutes and you'll be in the city centre in 15 minutes. The car is not essential to visit Florence, even because you can't access the city centre with it and parking is expensive. Busses, trains and tram are functional. But if you want to visit Tuscany you'll need a car, especially for places like Chianti and Maremma or the coast. We are a welcoming country, so don't hesitate to ask for more information!!
