Manchester is a really good city to travel alone. There so many thing to do! I visited the viaduct, the esea contemporary, the musuem of art, the library.... The city is so warm, there's people everywhere. The food is delicious! And you can just walk on the street and look at the house...that's so beautiful!

Spent 3 nights in Manchester solo, all you need is 1 full day unless there is something specific you want to do. I didn't find it as exciting or friendly as London or Bristol which I loved and would go back to again. It is possible there is something I missed though! Safety wise it was very average. I had some concerns because I googled just before I got there (I am inherently a very nervous person) and it seems regarded as a pretty dodgy place. It was honestly fine but I didn't stay out very...
Posted: March 4, 2025Experienced: July, 2023It was a big city, it was a bit loud but pretty. Much to see. I felt somewhat safe, saw people smoking weed in the streets. The food could have been better, much junk food chains. It was a bit cheap.
Posted: October 2, 2024Manchester is an absolutely gorgeous city. I can highly recommend going to museums as they offer a variety of interesting things. Apart from that I never felt so safe in terms of being Queer, I think the existence of the “gay village” existing says it all. Neurodivergency was also not a problem, when I was overwhelmed in the museum of Manchester, the staff kindly showed me to the dedicated quiet space. You need to come here if you love diversity, whether it’s in people, architecture or...

Pretty safe apart from gangs and violent homeless people, sometimes they will follow you in attempt to gain money, however people on the streets generally will look out for eachother and plenty of police and security guards
Posted: April 27, 2026Actually you can travel-solo, but it's not recommended to wak alone during late hours. Homeless people don't do anything, but drunk people can do something so be careful and stay awake. Do not walk awkward and dark streets
Posted: April 1, 2026It’s pretty safe but it depends on what area you’re in. I would avoid Fallowfield at night time but the centre is usually always busy. I’ve personally not had many problems but i’ve heard other women have so it’s always good to be careful.
Posted: March 3, 2026It's safe during the day. But it is still a big city so at night you have to be aware of your surroundings and not walk alone at night unless its a busy space. As long as your careful you will be fine

Kelly
Manchester
1 day
Hellooooo I’m Kelly and originally from Hong Kong but now on a working holiday in the UK and have moved to Manchester since 2025. I don’t really have any goals in life or a particular passion for anything so i’m always just wandering around by myself to see what really sparks my interest. Currently I’m into photography but very amateur, and also gardening i’m planting some strawberries and they are growing very well:)) Oh I also like music and movies, i know everyone has a Slipknot phase but i’m still in mine, i used to work in a cinema as an usher just to take a sneak peek at the new movies during breaks, love me Ghibli, my favourite animes of all time are Fullmetal Alchemist and Evangelion (I know pretty basic but based) My native language is Cantonese but I’m also fluent in Mandarin and English, know a bit of Japanese and Spanish which I definitely want to be more fluent! Also i love the cartoon show Moomin, it’s my dream to visit Finland and see them in Moomin World, maybe i can meet Santa Claus as well :)) I’m planning to travel around the UK and Europe before my 26th birthday in November so look forward to seeing you all beautiful faces xx

I’m Sana, 19, a solo traveler at heart and always up for an adventure. I believe life’s too short to wait around if there’s a place I want to see, I just go. Whether it’s wandering through city streets, hiking a new trail, backpacking or trying unfamiliar food, I find joy in the unknown and peace in my own company. Travel isn’t just a hobby for me it’s how I grow, learn, and connect with the world. I’ve discovered that some of the best stories come from solo moments: getting lost, meeting strangers, or watching a sunset in a place I’ve never been. I’m always open to meeting like-minded people, swapping travel tips, or just sharing stories from the road. ✈️🌍
