Safety:Safe

Lagos is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. It's a popular tourist destination with a low crime rate. As a precaution, it's recommended to keep your belongings secure, avoid deserted areas at night and listen to your intuition. As with any foreign location, awareness of your surroundings and local customs is key. The locals are friendly and the city is well-policed, which creates a sense of security.

Transport:Easy

Navigating Lagos is quite manageable. The compact town is very walkable and you can reach most attractions on foot. Public transportation is also available for longer distances. Furthermore, rental bikes and scooters are popular options. However, there might be some difficulties during the tourist season with crowded areas.

Things to do:Interesting

Lagos is teeming with lots to engage in. Its stunning coastline offers enjoyable water-based activities such as surfing, dolphin watching, and boat tours. For the historically inclined traveler, Lagos's rich history can be explored through its ancient walls, fortress, and museums. Dining by the seaside and trying traditional Portuguese cuisine is another unique experience Lagos offers. Surrounded by natural beauty, Lagos also offers opportunities for hiking and exploring their beautiful coastline and cliffs, making it a location full of variety and activities appealing to different tastes.

Food:Above average

Portugal's Lagos offers a rich variety of food. From savory traditional Portuguese dishes to fresh locally sourced seafood, every foodie would be satiated. The place also offers international cuisine such as Italian, French, and Asian for those who want to enjoy a taste of home or try something different. The pastries and wine here definitely require a special mention for their unforgettable taste. Much to your delight, you will find numerous vegan and vegetarian options too. The only downside is that the street food scene is not as vibrant compared to other culinary destinations.

Budget:Moderate

While not the cheapest destination you could choose, Lagos offers a moderate level of affordability. Accommodation, transport and food can range quite considerably in price, but typically, they fall into a medium budget range. It's more appropriate for travelers who are willing to spend a bit more for a unique experience. However, there are also many free or inexpensive activities to enjoy, such as its beautiful beaches and stunning natural sights.

Lagos was an amazing experience, the beautiful landscape paired with the kindness of the locals made me feel so safe. It was very easy to meet people and make friends. I stayed at Orange3 hostel and it was walking distance to everything. Highly recommend adding this to your list of places to visit!

If you visit Lagos during summer, you will really understand why the English are there in numbers. The sun will burn you, but the sea will soothe you. Lagos is a small town south of Portugal. I felt it was very safe with very cute streets and artwork. The beaches are walking distance. It was great to rewind here.

Solo travel experience

I loved Lagos. The city gives off the vibe of a typical surfer's town, not too big and not too small, and the atmosphere is really nice. A walk along the beaches there is absolutely beautiful.

Lagos is a great city to stay in! Public transportation is very easy to understand (I used both the bus and the train), and the city itself is very pedestrian-friendly once you're there! As a solo woman I felt safe walking at any time of the day, both visitors and residents were very welcoming, and the city is beautiful! Take advantage of the activities offered there too!
