I loved Sintra. I stayed there for 2 nights. I started with Quinta then to Pena then to Moorish. I spent the most time at Quinta - it was gorgeous and not crowded when I went

Solo travel experience

I went in August of last year and thought Pena was gorgeous. I took the first train from Lisbon, got a ride from one of the cart drivers who wait outside of the station, and made it to the top before the tourists. I was 10th in line and it was great. I spent at least an hour wandering around the palace and then another hour on the grounds exploring the gardens. Then walked down to stop at one of the other palaces.

Solo travel experience

I absolutely loved Sintra. I did Quinta da Regaleira first as that was the most important one to me, from there I did the National Palace of Pena (I had a 3 o’clock entrance), the valley of the lakes, and ended with Castle of the Moors. It was a tiring day but I wouldn’t have changed it one bit.

I really enjoyed the weekend trip. My mum and I visited 3 palaces but we want to come to visit the others. If I'm not wrong, there's 7 palaces to visit in Sintra

Solo travel experience

I went back two days in a row. I loved the sites there but for me, it was Convento dos Capuchos just out of Sintra that stole my heart for the mystic atmosphere. Completely alone on a moody misty day in the woods and stone site was spiritual so glad another traveler at the hostel told me about the site.

Solo travel experience

I spent a weekend there at a really cool hostel. Quinta da regaleira gardens were magical, and both castles were worth a visit. The whole town was so pretty. Great coffee, queijada (a small cheese pastry) and cherry liqueur.

Sintra is a magical place in Lisbon, Portugal. When you visit Sintra, you’ll feel like you entered the fantasy world, where fairy and dragons live! You may find a lot of public transports and different places to eat local food. Please, don’t leave without tasting “Travesseiros” from “Periquita” and “Queijadas” from “Casa do Preto”’

I love reading (especially while drinking a cup of tea). Hope to meet you soon!
