Safety:Very safe

Tours is generally safe for solo female travelers. People are friendly and eager to help. However, as with all travel, it is advisable to exercise usual precautions. Always be aware of your surroundings, especially during the night or when in quiet areas. Use trusted taxi services and watch over your belongings in crowded places.

Transport:Easy

Tours is a small city, so it's relatively easy to navigate. Walking remains the easiest way to discover the city, with many attractions within walking distance from each other. Additionally, you will find bike paths and a reliable, well-connected public transport system. Signage around the city is quite clear, reducing the chances of getting lost. However, like any new place, familiarizing yourself with the city layout may take a day or two.

Things to do:Interesting

Tours offers a rich blend of architectural elegance, historic grandeur, and vibrant city life. Its winding streets are lined with medieval-half timbered homes straight out of a storybook. Explore the city's beautiful botanical gardens or delve into the past at the Musée du Compagnonnage. Tours is also an ideal base for exploring the renowned vineyards of the Loire Valley. The only setback might be it's not bustling as larger cities, making it a more relaxing and leisurely travel experience.

Food:Above average

Tours offers an impressive range of culinary delights synonymous with the Loire Valley. Expect a variety of rich cheeses, delicious pastries, and local specialties such as rillettes, a type of pork pate. In the local markets, one can find an abundance of fresh produce and local delicacies. Vegetarian and gluten-free options may be slightly limited, but still available. Overall, the food scene is a diverse mix, likely to satisfy most palates.

Budget:Moderate

Tours offers a moderate cost of living compared to most European cities. However, prices are still higher than many parts of the world. Accommodation, food, and transportation are reasonably priced, but premium experiences like wine-tasting and upscale dining can add up quickly. Planning ahead and budget tracking will be your best strategies.

Family travel experience

I travelled to Tours with my daughter. We stayed 5 days in an Airbnb not too far from the centre. We found public transport affordable and safe. We found the city has a relaxed atmosphere and people were very happy to help as much as they could. A lot of people are happy to speak English if needed.
