Is Paris safe for solo female travelers?

Paris, the vibrant capital of France, is generally labeled as a safe city for solo female travelers. Its extensive and reliable public transportation network facilitates travel, even during late hours. Parisians are helpful and most are fluent in English, enhancing the ease of communication. However, like any crowded tourist destination, it's wise to stay vigilant against pickpockets and scams, especially in high tourist areas or in the Metro. It's also recommended to avoid less crowded and poorly lit areas at night. Overall, the experience can be very rewarding with the right precautions.

Only issues I’ve encountered are with aggressive scammers and unlicensed vendors that get hostile when they hear “No.” Unfortunately, all of these incidents were with my child present. Safe otherwise.

I love Paris, a lot of rats sadly lol but overall I loved the attractions, the museums, the parks, the views and the architecture. I had a lot of options for activities. I met cool people. The locals were surprisingly nice. Some areas did feel sketchy but I was fine. The metro is a M A Z E. The more you use it the more you get used to it I feel like. I’ve been to bad, busy and confusing stations but I still didn’t run into any problems.

Paris is a stunning city with incredible corner houses and beautiful, large urban spaces, especially the towers and Notre Dame de Paris, as well as the Opera Garnier. In Paris, I was particularly impressed by delicacies such as foie gras, Parisian pastries and desserts. I would like to come back here again.

It was Wery Fanny and pretty. I have several friends in Paris, so they took me to various exhibitions and places that were very interesting. I spent most of my time on my own, visiting cathedrals and just walking around.

The city has a lot to offer, love the museums and the architecture. Pastries are to die for. For transport I’d recommend to get a Navigo weekly pass for all zones to not be limited with zones. Still I’d say it’s easier to navigate when you speak French as people are reluctant to speak English (imo)

Pay attention to pick pockets and avoid walking alone at night, especially as a girl/woman Don't let your phone on the table in cafés Be also careful in public transportations, especially later in the evening

I’ve been living here five years and feel kinda safe, but depends on the areas and the people being in the streets. At first I wasn’t sage at all, but now I’m used to living here and never really had a problem so that’s okay!

I’ve lived in Paris my whole life, so I’ll try to give you the best advice to help your trip go smoothly. During the day: Be careful in certain metro lines (Line 1 / Line 9) and in tourist areas where pickpockets are common, but overall the city is generally safe during the day. At night: Stay alert and don’t hesitate to be firm or even rude with men who approach you. That’s unfortunately how we deal with it here—if you’re too nice, you quickly become a “target” and they won’t leave you alone. If you take the metro late at night, always get into carriages where there are groups of young people (especially groups with women). If you don’t see any groups, get into the first carriage near the driver so you can knock on the door if there’s a problem (unfortunately, more and more metro lines are automated and no longer have a driver 🥲). As for the “Noctilien” night buses (which run when the metro stops): on Friday and Saturday nights they’re usually fine because lots of young people coming back from nights out use them. During the week, however, they’re best avoided, as many intoxicated people or homeless individuals take them to stay warm, which can make you feel uncomfortable. Like in any big city, avoid going to isolated areas alone at night, but Paris is a lively city after dark and you can usually find someone to help you if needed!

Several times I’ve come home late from work or parties and nothing has ever happened to me. Neighborhoods like Barbès near Gare du Nord and Porte de la Chapelle/Aubervilliers have a pretty bad reputation, so I don’t recommend going there alone at night. My phone was stolen in Aubervilliers on a Monday evening.

Paris is safe. You need to mind pickpockets and drunk people in the public space, like any other major cities I would say I never had any problems living there. I always found it safe and never had problems going out late late
