based on 3 experiences from female travelers
I spend 7 weeks in Montpellier for a language course and it was so much fun! The city is beautiful and in my experience pretty safe (except for cat calling and some pickpockets). There are great daytrips possible to Marseille or Sête, which also are very pretty and popular. Or you can visit the Museums, beach or other attractions in Montpellier itself. As an 18 year old I partied a lot in the Clubs Panama (esp. the Latina floor/2nd floor) and Le Club. It’s definitely not cheap, but when has...

I stayed with local woman who hosted me in her beautiful apartment for one night. It was amazing experience. First we had a coffee and little chat in one of the cute coffee places and then we went to her place to have a dinner and a bit of wine. After that she gave me her keys so I could come back whenever I wanted. I connected with one more french girl, so I went for a drink with her. I came back slightly after 22 and next day I left early to be able to discover the city. I went to Musée Fabre...

Feeling relatively safe as a women, a bit less at night close to the train station in the center. Quite welcoming for lgbtq+ people, a nice community. Overall great city to live in and visit! Would recommande for both
Posted: July 1, 2026usually pretty safe, a few places aren't as safe but i'd say it's mostly people wanting to sell you drugs or cheaper cigarettes who can be a bit intimidating but they would usually leave you alone if you politely decline.
Posted: May 28, 2026Montpellier is a really cool and warm city from southern France, with a lot of safe bars and pubs, but like everywhere there are some place to avoid when you are alone, especially as woman unfortunately.
Posted: April 27, 2026Montpellier is a very beautiful city, I lived there for 6 years, it's really a pleasant city with lots of beautiful things to visit. During the day it's fine, no problem, but at night there are some places where you need to be careful and maybe not be alone.

Hi What can I say to introduce myself? I'm Blandine, I love and have the chance to meet new people in my life and work. I believe that diversity is essential for the world. I love being in an intercultural environment, I find it exciting, and it always makes me grow. I love and I have the chance to travel, and I'm usually on my own, so I'm very happy to be part of this solidarity group. What esle? I'm French. I'm a social worker and a sociolinguist. I speak French, English and some Spanish. ^^

Hello, my name is Anna. I am of Greco-French nationality. I grew up in Greece but I have lived in Montpellier since August 2023. I am a student in contemporary dance, jazz, classical and I am interested in the studies of all styles of dance. I'm trying to travel as much as possible right now. In my travels I always try to meet people and discover their cultures. My main interests revolve around art. Dance, music (I like to sing), literature, drawing, cinema, theater. I'm also quite athletic. Then I would also say that I am a curious person in general so it is always a pleasure to learn from my meeting.
