How safe is Utah?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Utah is considered relatively safe, especially in contrast to many other parts of the United States. However, like any other places, there are always risks, especially at night. Always stick to well-lit, populated areas when possible and remain vigilant of your surroundings. It's also recommended to avoid certain parts of Salt Lake City and Ogden at night. Use common sense and take the basic safety precautions you would anywhere else.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Utah is generally deemed reliable and secure. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA), which operates the buses, trams, and trains, ensures regular maintenance of the vehicles. Security personnel is often seen patrolling the stations, and cameras are installed for added safety. However, like any other place, you should be aware of your surroundings, especially during off-peak hours or quiet periods. Despite some minor safety considerations, it's an efficient system and often preferred by locals and tourists alike.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Utah is generally known for being a reserved and safe space for travelers, including solo female voyagers. The level of street harassment tends to be quite low. Citizens uphold strong community values and have an overall friendly demeanor towards visitors. However, just like any other place it's important to stay mindful, particularly in more crowded or urbanized areas.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Utah generally has a lower crime rate compared to other states in the U.S. Petty crimes like pickpocketing and purse snatching are relatively less likely, particularly in smaller towns, rural areas, and touristic destinations. However, in bigger cities such as Salt Lake City, it would be wise to exercise more caution. Always keep your belongings secured and be aware of your surroundings to lessen your risk.
Tap water:

Tap water:Very safe

Tap water in Utah is generally considered very safe to drink. This is because the standards for water quality established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are stringent and ensure that tap water is thoroughly tested and treated for contaminants and pollutants. However, it's always advisable to use a water filter to further cleanse your tap water just to be extra safe.
