Is Long Beach Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Long Beach, like any major urban area in the United States, has both safe and not-so-safe areas. Downtown area and tourist attractions are generally safe with a good police presence. However, it may not feel as safe at night, especially in deserted areas. Therefore, as a solo female traveler, it's advisable to take general precautions, such as not walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas or displaying expensive items. Inform a friend or family about your plans. Use public transportation or licensed taxi services where possible. To be safe, always be aware of your surroundings.

How safe is Long Beach?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Long Beach has areas of higher and lower safety, like most U.S cities. It's generally considered safe to walk around at night, especially in well-lit, populated areas. There are certain neighborhoods, however, where caution should be exercised, particularly late at night. Public transport is reliable and is regularly traveled by locals and tourists alike. It's always advisable to use your own judgement and not display expensive items or wander into less busy areas. Crime rates can vary across the city, but majority of the city is safe for women traveling alone at night.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Long Beach is overall secure. It includes buses, the metro and taxis. During the day, you can travel around relatively safely, and the systems are well-used and generally reliable. However, it's always wise to maintain caution, as with any urban area, especially when traveling outside peak times or using quieter stations. It is also advisable to plan your route in advance and be aware of your surroundings.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Long Beach, in the United States, has a generally safe environment. Reviews from other solo female travellers indicate that it is largely free from significant street harassment, though, as with any urban area, it is good to be aware of your surroundings. Instances of cat-calling or more aggressive behavior are relatively rare. It's always a good idea to maintain vigilance, particularly at night, while enjoying the diverse cultural landscapes of the city.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Moderate

Just like any other city, Long Beach has its areas of higher and lower crime rates. Petty crimes such as street theft, pickpocketing, and vehicle crime are present, but not rampant. As a general rule, it is always smart to keep an eye on your belongings, avoid walking alone at night especially in less populated or poorly lit areas, and be watchful of your surroundings. Overall, Long Beach is a fairly safe city to visit, but the necessity for common precautionary measures should not be overlooked.

Is Long Beach worth visiting?

Solo travel

It was terrible and wonderful. Poor and too wealthy. Sad and happy. I would recommend getting the most expensive hotel because every other place has roaches. I wouldn't spend much time out at night. Get used to hearing fireworks cuz they set them off all night long
