Is Iowa City safe for solo female travelers?

Iowa City is generally considered a safe destination for solo female travelers. With a low crime rate compared to other cities, it's usually safe to explore both during the day and early evening. However, like any other city, it's always important to be aware of your surroundings, especially when walking alone at late nights and in less crowded areas. Public transportation is available and reliable, and local people are often friendly and helpful. Nevertheless, it's always recommended to follow universal safety precautions.

I came here to visit the University of Iowa and was pleasantly surprised! It was realty beautiful in the summer, the campus was very walkable, and the downtown area was pleasant and next to campus. I especially enjoyed trying local dairy foods at the local grocery store in the downtown area and walking through the shops.

How safe is Iowa City for women?

Iowa city is a very safe place, but its also a college town. Students go out on weekends, and you have to be safe with who you trust and watch your drinks. The city itself is super fun and I have always felt mostly safe
