Well, I visited Bend for a WCS dance convention and I stayed at The shilo inn on the Deschutes River. It had a beautiful riverfront view and a fireplace in the room. The rooms are somewhat small but I was traveling on a budget. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I only got to stay one night so I don't have a lot more to say but I hope to visit again soon!
Posted: July 26, 2024Experienced: July, 2024Bend is a really beautiful city and with very kind people. This is one of the places I felt the safest in the US. I stayed in an amazing hostel "Bunk+Brew Historic Lucas House". I even hitchhiked to get to the closest Canyon (which is really worth it) and got picked up by a neat local woman! I only stayed for 3 days but overall the town and the surrounding are really diverse and beautiful. I'd recommend 100%!

I stayed at the Bunk n Brew hostel and I had so much fun. I really love Bend and the vibe of western Oregon. The weather is great and you’ll never be bored between the nature, the breweries, and the food trucks.

Bend is fairly safe. Crime is growing more as the city is growing. But if you compared it to Portland Oregon it would be extremely safe. I feel like bend is more safe than a lot of other cities in Oregon.
Posted: January 2, 2025Bend is a pretty safe town. I have never felt unsafe here or worried about leaving items in my vehicle, or even leaving the vehicle unlocked. I travel alone most of the time and folks are pretty polite and friendly.

Hi! My name is Kate and I have been a self employed web designer for about a decade. In 2021 I purchased an RV and started having some fun adventures. I have been working as a WWOOFer on farms and dairies and pet and house sitting. I love to make some new friends and share travel stories!

I am super lucky to live with my husband in beautiful Bend, Oregon. I love where I live, and enjoy sharing it with others. I am fairly active outdoors with hiking, biking, and a couple snow sports. Living 30 minutes from Mount Bachelor is another amazing perk of living where I do! I love legos, reading, live music, and my dogs. We have two Labrador Retrievers, Karen and Janice. They love swimming in the rivers and lakes nearby, and eating.
