How safe is Lviv?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

While Lviv generally boasts a friendly and calm atmosphere, due caution should always be exercised at night. As a solo female traveler, you'll find that the city center is bustling and safe, especially when sticking to well-lit, populated areas. However, traveling alone in quieter, less frequented sectors of the city might pose safety concerns. It's advisable to use trustworthy transportation options rather than walking alone at night, particularly in unfamiliar areas.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Lviv is generally reliable and safe. The city has a diverse network of trams, buses, and trolleybuses that you can use to get around. It's common to see locals, including women, using these modes of transport at all hours of the day. While most transport vehicles may not be modern, they are usually crowded which lessens the risk of security incidents. Nonetheless, it's always recommended to be cautious of your belongings as pick-pocketing can sometimes occur, especially during rush hours.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Lviv, as a fairly popular tourist city in Ukraine, is generally considered to be safe for female travelers. However, like anywhere in the world, incidences of street harassment do occur though they are relatively rare. Most local people are friendly and hospitable to tourists. Take the usual safety precautions, stay alert and aware of your surroundings, especially at night or in less crowded areas.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Lviv, generally possesses a safe environment for travelers. However, quite like in any urban areas around the world, petty crimes such as pickpocketing or bag snatching can occur, especially in crowded places. That being said, such incidents are not widespread and with basic precautions, such as not displaying valuable items openly and keeping your belongings in a safe and secure manner, it can be largely avoided. So, even though safety should always be a priority, there is no need to be overly anxious about petty crimes in Lviv.

Lviv is great place to stay. It is safe during the night. I am a student and live there for 2 years and I haven’t experienced harassment at all. Everyone just minds their own business. Because of the war it is sometimes unsafe to stay there

In the city center, security is at a high level, the police patrol the streets. However, we have a large number of bars concentrated in the tourist area. In general, there is a large community of people and a tourist city. People are friendly and the streets are well lit. Currently, we have a curfew in effect due to Russia's attack on Ukraine, this is an additional security measure. Robberies are extremely rare in our country, but you should be careful on public transport and at the rally when you meet gypsies.
