Is Ukraine Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Ukraine is generally safe for solo female travelers when sticking to major cities like Kyiv and Lviv, where people are accommodating and there is a well-established tourist infrastructure. There's a good public transportation system and plenty of accommodations to choose from. However, you should practice common safety measures like not walking alone late at night, avoiding deserted areas, and maintaining awareness of your belongings at all times. It is also recommended to avoid Eastern Ukraine and Crimea due to ongoing political instabilities.

Ukraine, Solo travel

Western Ukraine: Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as Odesa and the Odesa cats. I visited these cities for the first time and was absolutely amazed by the beauty of our country and how cozy and welcoming it feels. The Carpathian Mountains, hiking up Mount Hoverla, local souvenir markets - it’s hard to put into words. It was truly incredible.

Kyiv, Solo travel

Did I feel safe? Mostly yes, but with caution. Air raid alerts happen, and you need to stay updated. People go on with life, but the war is still real. I felt safe during the day in central areas, especially with locals around. Things to do / skip: Do: – Walk around Podil, Andriyivskyy Descent, and Mariinsky Park – Visit St. Sophia’s Cathedral and Kyiv Pechersk Lavra – Check out local bookshops and cozy cafés – Try a banya (Ukrainian sauna) for a unique experience Skip: – Expensive tourist...

People are very friendly, they helped us almost for free. The food was delicious, the views were damn good, and we didn't need a big budget because we were just relaxing rather than looking for activities. There were problems with transportation, because these are mountains, but the locals saved the races here.

War situation; not safe at all.. Missile or dron can come over your hear/house/family member or whatever any time…. Not safe to sleep, walk, eat, or stay in any place of Ukraine at all… Country used to be alive, kind, very arranged and beautiful before…

Kyiv

I would say that Kyiv is pretty safe. During the day, you don’t need to worry, but at night it’s always better to avoid dark, lonely streets. Don’t forget to check where the nearby bomb shelters are and download an air alert app

Overall, the city is quite safe, if you don’t count the drone and missile attacks from Russia that affect our region and many parts of Ukraine in general. As for crime, I don’t have much personal experience with it. In some areas, it can feel less safe at night, especially where larger groups of people gather and drink. The main concern can sometimes be men in such situations. But overall, daily life in the city is fine.

Not safe at all because of bombing and russian attacks. But since I used to live here like many Ukrainians, we kinda adopt. And you should not ignore air alarms. It could be nice, but you never sure where the strike can be.
