Tunis, has a moderate safety level. Crime rates are relatively low and the locals are generally hospitable towards tourists. Tunis is comparatively safe than other cities in the region. However, wandering alone at night can be risky. It is always advisable to avoid less busy areas, narrow lanes and backstreets. Similar to many large cities, pickpocketing can be a concern, particularly in crowded buses or stations. Always keep an eye on your belongings and be cautious during off-peak hours and at night. However, most people respect each other's space and are often willing to help tourists navigate their way around the city.

Women often report receiving unwanted attention such as stares, whistles, cat-calling, or even unsolicited comments about their physical appearance. While it's important to remain vigilant and take precautions, it should also be noted that there are many respectful and helpful locals who are happy to provide assistance if needed.

It is really a lovely country with its seas, mountains, and deserts. Its nature and scenery are breathtaking. Safety depends on the place you are in, but overall it is safe. You just need to be cautious at times to avoid theft. It's advisable not to use your phone on public transportation.
