Is Tunis Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Tunis, has a moderate safety level. Crime rates are relatively low and the locals are generally hospitable towards tourists. However, as in many parts of the world, a solo female traveler should exercise common sense and maintain awareness of her surroundings. While public transportation is safe to use, it may sometimes be crowded. Always adhere to local customs and make sure to dress modestly to respect the local culture. Despite the country's mostly peaceful situation, occasional political events could alter the safety landscape, so it's crucial to stay informed about current events.

Tunisia is mostly very safe. In the touristic areas safety is assured and very high. If you are planning to move around freely, you can always ask a local for advice to find the best hidden gems of Tunisia.

Tunis is fairly safe for women but I would not recommend to walk alone at night however in the morning you won't face any problem anywhere, just be mindful of your belongings. Best places to stay to discover is in Menzah (all 9 districts), Ain Zaghouan, Marsa, Carthage Sidi Bou Said, jardin de carthage, these are the safest neighbourhoods filled with Airbnbs

Tunis is overall safe if you dress with the cultural context in mind, as a born and raised Tunisian I have never experienced anything in this city that has made me seriously consider it has a safety issue. As they tell you in other capitals in the public transport: don’t use your phone, be mindful of your belongings!

About me

I’m a 24 year old finance graduate and hospitality and tourism management masters student. I often sing and write my own music that is still not ready for release 😌 I’ve visited Turkey twice and France once and am planning to expand my horizons further as soon as I get my financial independence 🤞🏼 I speak Arabic, English, French and Turkish, and can greet and have small talks in German, but would love to learn more languages from locals all around the world 🌎

About me

Hi! My name is Leila, I am 23 years old. I spent the last year teaching English in Jerusalem, Palestine. I am originally Tunisian-Egyptian and have lived most of the my life in the U.S.! I love solo traveling and meeting new people. I currently live in a farm raising chicken, sheep, and harvesting watermelons (very random I know!). I like the farm life but I also live for going to cities and exploring historical sites and the nightlife !!
