Is Winterthur safe for solo female travelers?

It‘s usually very safe except at some locations at night. Especially at the train station there can be some strange people but personally I’ve never had a bad experience. There are usually some security guards.

It’s a mid size swiss town. People are kind while doing their thing. They mostly would help you finding a place or by giving directions. Like most places in Switzerland, Winterthur is very safe, also for women.

It's one of the bigger cities in Switzerland. Nevertheless it feels like a small village compared to international cities. There is enough police in the public transports and during the night I feel very safe as a young woman. The criminal rate is very low (overall in Switzerland).

The people are very nice and friendly. I would say, it is very safe. I have lived in Winterthur my whole life and nothing bad happend to me during this time. I always drove with my bicycle to the city and back when I was going out, and it was no problem at all.

Most of the time I feel safe. One of the only things which I don’t feel fully comfortable with is having to go home late passing through the train station and using public transport. I‘ve been catcalled and have gotten into weird conversations in those contexts which is why I‘m always being a bit careful. I‘ve never experienced any harassment in Winterthur because of being openly queer. I‘ve heard of a few break-ins over the last years but not that I would be too worried about it.
