It was a very safe and calm city. It was more cosmopolitan than I expected. Transportation was very easy, but in general it was an expensive city. I felt that everyone spoke at least three languages and was helpful

Is Basel safe for women?

Born and raised in Basel and never experienced any dangerous situations. Me and many female friends walk home at night by ourselves, comfortably taking the public transportation at any time. Bc Basel is a small city, if still anything happens police stations and hospitals are very closed by.

Basel is during colder months mostly quiet and during summer busy with outdoor events. Some areas are a bit shadier than others, such as Messeplatz late at night. Otherwise there are fairly any issues and such as in any crowded places, guard your belongings and you will be safe.

Solo travel experience

I spent approximately 7.5 hours in Basel. It was a day where I walked alone for hours, covering 15 km without the internet on my back. Except for Münsterplatz, I couldn't find free internet outdoors. Museums were closed because it was Monday, so I couldn't visit a few museums I wanted to see. Even if they were open, I wouldn't have had enough time, but oh well. Basel is a city worth exploring if you are passing through or nearby, but if you don't have the money and time, especially, there's no need to go. I don't think you'll find something different in this city that you can't find in Central Europe.

Been to Basel with no expectations honestly but being there it had nothing really to surprise me. There is not much to see. The streets look full and chaotic. I walked a lot like usually but found nothing great to see expect an botanic garden from a university nearby which was the best thing during my stay. It was very hot and everything was way too expensive. Good in Switzerland it u have drinking fountains everywhere.
