Safety at night:Very safe

Lugano is known to be a quite safe city, even at night. Whether you're strolling alongside the lake or heading back to your accommodation, it's generally very peaceful. Crime rates are low, especially violent crimes, which are extremely rare. The Swiss society is orderly, and the local police are efficient and professional. Public streets are well-lit and populated. However, it is still wise to adhere to common safety practices such as keeping your belongings secure and being aware of your surroundings.

Public transportation in Lugano is highly reliable and safe. Trains and buses are punctual and well-maintained while safety measures and regulations are strictly adhered to. Night buses are also available, providing safe transportation round the clock. As a solo female traveler, you can trust the public transportation in Lugano for your travel needs.

Street harassment: Very low

Lugano is known for its peaceful and safe environment. Swiss cities, including Lugano, typically have low levels of street harassment. The residents are respectful and likely to keep to themselves. Of course, it is always important to stay alert, especially at night or in less crowded areas.

Petty crimes:Low

Lugano, maintains a lower incidence of petty crimes such as pickpocketing, theft, or bag snatching, compared to some other major cities across the world. Due to its robust law enforcement and generally safe environment, the instances of such crimes are relatively infrequent. However, it is always advisable to stay vigilant, especially in crowded areas and tourist spots.

Tap water:Very safe

In Lugano, as in most parts of Switzerland, tap water is of high quality and safe for drinking. In fact, it usually originates from natural springs or is perfectly treated ground water. It meets or exceeds all national and international requirements for potable water, and is also tested regularly to ensure ongoing safety standards. Bottled water is really unnecessary, making Lugano a sustainable destination as well.
