I spent 2 weeks in Luleå chasing the northern lights. The whole city felt safe, never had any problems being a solo female traveler. I stayed at a local's place. They were very friendly and that helped with the cost, Luleå is expensive. I can only revommend Luleå, it was magical.

It’s a pretty safe I would say. You can walk almost anywhere without feeling scared there are certain neighbourhoods where more violence is present but it’s not to the extent that I would feel worried in a daily basis going out. I feel safe taking public transport although sometimes when it’s dark, I get paranoid walking outside.

Luleå is a small northern town. Incidents do tappen but overall very safe! I am not much of a nightlife kind of person so i cant speak much for that but i do think even that is probably rather safe but as always be aware and stay safe.

I got a cabin, also in Luleå, easy living with only "summer water" as we call it. I like SUP and kajak, I live a short walk from Luleälven, a river where I usually paddle, love going out to "my island". The island has a small small beach where the sunsets are awesome.
