I was in Uppsala for a course trip from my university, i was there two days with the university and expenses mostly paid for and then two days on my own in a hostel. The prices are all very reasonable and just how you would expect them to be in a bigger city. The city has many nice buildings and places to visit and some second hand shops and museums. I personally felt very safe in the city and did not once have to worry about anything. I had a mixed dormitory in the hostel and only was a bit weary of one older guy who had a weird sleeping habit and just generally was inside the hostel room...

I have never personally experienced anything threatening or similar, tho Gottsunda is quite known for being a place you don’t really wanna be in. It also depends on the day. Fridays and Saturdays are the “going out” days wich means that it will be a lot of pople in town. So be aware as you would be in your own country.

It's all about in what areas you are staying. Overall I feel very safe beeing out at night in the city. When you liv in a van, it's good to do a little bit of research before so that you're not staying in an area that has a high level of crimes.
Posted: October 6, 2025I live in Uppsala and from my and my friends experience I would say it’s really safe for us women. I have walked alone in the middle of the night with no issues. But you need to be careful in general so yes.

A lot of news outlets lately has described Sweden as very dangerous, which I think is very misleading. In Uppsala, there are some disturbances in the outskirts, like in Knivsta or Gränby and in the outskirts of Stockholm, but generally, this beautiful city is safe and mostly home to students (both international exchange students and Swedish students) and a highly...

Hello! I’m Karolina, 26F, a psychology student from Sweden looking to getting to know some new people! Some weekends I spend at the hospital caring for patients and cleaning the rooms after they leave. My biggest hobby is writing. Writing what? Crap mostly, all sorts of genres and experiments of fictional worlds and characters. I also love singing, dancing and acting and just joined a progressive rock band in Uppsala in the hopes of creating some new songs with them. I love the outdoors and camping, hiking and such, and I adore all kinds of animals. Just putting that out there, in case anyone around has a pet at home I might be able to cuddle up with at some point 😅

Hi! I’m Melisa — a Swedish-Turkish mama of two, artist (Mammachic) and communications professional. Life is full these days, and I spend most of my time juggling motherhood, work, creativity and everyday magic. I love to travel — especially with my children. For me, it’s about creating meaningful memories together, discovering new places, and soaking in the beauty of different cultures and moments. I value kindness, calm, and genuine connections. If we cross paths, I’d love to share a little piece of that journey with you 💛
