Is Malmo safe for solo female travelers?

Malmo is considered to be generally safe for solo female travelers. Petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching can occur, especially in crowded places, so it's always a good idea to keep your belongings secure and close to you. Civil unrest may happen occasionally but it rarely affects tourists. It is important to stay informed about the areas you visit and maintain common safety precautions, such as not walking alone late at night in less populated areas.

How safe is Malmo for female travelers?

Solo travel

The City of Malmo relatively safe, quite expensive so not a safe option for a low budget trip, I am from the tropics so I didn't like the Spring weather, however I loved the Spring bloom, I stayed at the Clarion live hotel, a walking distance from the Central Train Station, highly recommended. Spectacular view of the city from the rooftop

Solo travel

I didn't fall in love with this city, this might have been due to the season in which I was there (November), but the place seemed quite empty and expensive to me. I only spent one day there (arriving by train from Copenhagen) and I felt safe all the time.

The feeling of safety differs based on where in Malmö you go. There are some neighborhoods that are known to be more unsafe (such as Rosengård, Lindängen and Fosie) and while that may be true, at least to some extent, it’s not super-unsafe to be there during daytime. I would, however, avoid going there when it’s dark outside.

I would say Malmö is quite safe! I would not walk in the "problematic" places but you know... Swedens "not safe" is quite safe if you compare it to other countries♡ The clubs have a lot of men who like to be nere women in my experience, but you can go and take a beer 🍺 instead and feel much safer:) at least if you are alone! If you like to dance, lindy hop or folkdances, you can go to moriskan in folkets park in Malmö:) it is so nice and fun!

Malmö is a fairly safe town, some neighbourhood are more on the intense side of violence but overall safer than it use to be. I’m not worried to walk alone or to bike around after dark in most parts of the city. The main thing to be concern about is if you have a bike to have it stolen!

Every town has crimes but I think overall that Malmo is a town of diversity and safety. I really like to hang around möllan/Folkets park/the city centre/some parks during the day/the library/the beaches

Despite its sometimes unsafe portayal, I‘ve never felt safer in my life than in Malmö (I‘m originally from Germany). Rarely, there are gang-related incidences but that‘s not just Malmö-specific. So far, I haven‘t felt unsafe at all when walking, biking or commuting during the day or at night-time:)
