Is Barnaul Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Barnaul offers a generally safe environment for solo female travelers. Violent crimes are relatively low and locals are often helpful to visitors. However, like any other city, keeping your wits about you and following basic safety precautions such as not walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas is recommended. The language barrier can be a challenge as English is not widely spoken, so it's good to learn basic Russian phrases or use a translation app. It's also advisable to stay aware of your surroundings and keep your belongings secure to avoid petty theft.

It's pretty safe. The transportation system isn't perfect, but I never worry about being robbed or mugged. They sometimes drive a bit recklessly, but that's the scariest thing that could happen. One could feel a bit uneasy after dark depending on the area of the city.
