I went to Bergen with my twin sister. Things to know about Bergen: - It's a very safe city - To do: fish soups and fjords - There's no euro and it's a pretty expensive city It was a great expérience!

I felt really safe in Bergen, it's a small town but very touristic and that's why it's very expensive. I stayed in a youth hostel and I used the kitchen to cook my meals. There are a lot of interesting things to do around, just go to the tourist information and they will help you to choose a cruise, a hike or other many activites. My budget was about 70 euros each day.
Posted: July 10, 2024Spent months waiting for a spontaneous trip to Bergen, because I wanted to choose a sunny week. The travel was more expensive this way but definitely worth it! You don't need more than 2-3 days to visit every sight, but you can spend a couple more days sailing to the fjords etc. Highly recommend!
Posted: July 2, 2024I felt very safe in Bergen! I would recommend checking out fløyen and Bryggen! There was a lot of good food, I would recommend eating fish while you’re there! Norway is very expensive so keep that in mind, but overall I would recommend Bergen!

I loved Bergen! We went on one of these get your guide tours and it was really worth it! We were a family of 3 (my dad, brother and me) and we stayed at the Scandic Neptun hotel! The breakfast was included, there were 3 single beds so it was perfect for our little trip! We took the train from Oslo to Bergen and had a stop at Myrdal, where we took the Myrdal train which was worth it as well! Can really recommend it! Check out the train schedules on google maps! Super easy and reliable!
Posted: June 12, 2024Experienced: September, 2023I loved Bergen and felt very safe. I walked through Vidden, ate the most delicious seafood at an outdoor restaurant in the market, and then took a fjord cruise to Flam, returning to Bergen by train.
Posted: October 27, 2023I was in Bergen for a few days in July. I visited Ulriksbanen and the views were magnificent. There are options for traveling / walking up and descent / walking back down. I also participated in a kayak tour around nearby fjords for a day, which was a wonderful experience.
Posted: October 26, 2023Bergen was beautiful with such a rich history. I really enjoyed touring the fjord and I recommend it if you can.

As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe, secure, and relaxed while exploring the city. Walking through the cobbled streets, visiting cozy cafés, and discovering hidden gems felt effortless and worry-free. The city has a peaceful atmosphere, and Norwegians are friendly and helpful. Whether strolling along Bryggen, taking the Fløibanen funicular for breathtaking views, or enjoying a quiet moment by the waterfront, Bergen offers a sense of comfort and security that makes it an ideal destination for women traveling alone.

I moved to Bergen from Los Angeles and feel more safe here than ever before. Completely comfortable walking alone at night for miles to get home if it’s too late for buses. Only exceptions are that it’s a university town so many men are drunk on the weekends and can be rowdy, I am luckily not what they are attracted to (not young or “pretty”) so I’m not as nervous as one might be, but I’m still always cautious. Even though Bergen is safe it is always best to be careful around drunk men and boys. And there are 2 pockets of town with heavy drug use and the addicts can be quite intimidating on the streets, although I’ve never been physically attacked they do sometimes yell at you. Apart from those 2 aspects, I’ve never felt safer in a town in my life. Buses are very clean and reliable and the drivers are generally happy to help if you have a question. I avoid taxis completely, the drivers are almost always men with an attitude. Nearly everyone speaks English but don’t expect someone to approach you if you need help, it’s not the Scandinavian way to inject into someone’s personal space, so you must ask for help if you need it.
