I felt very safe travelling to Norway. It’s a country with law obidient people that love rules lots. I felt safe to walk even during the late evening walks. It was amazing. The food is quite expensive but if you a good researcher you can find a cheap places as well.

I traveled low budget, there were many beautiful places to stay for free with a lot of times clean public toilets and a watertap. To avoid high costs for ‘bomvei’ you need to avoid tolk roads as there are many of them in Norway. I traveled two weeks and never had an unsafe feeling. Only one time when I was high in the mountains and there was 4G or 5G. I like to have contact with people at home ai they can see where I am. for that reading I use Polarsteps. Sonthey know i’m okay.

This was my first solo trip and I felt extremely safe. Public transportation was super convenient I stayed in several air bnb's and all my hosts were super nice and helpful. I shopped in local grocery stores to save money. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking- seriously!
Posted: July 9, 2024Experienced: May, 2016I went hiking and camping solo in the Lofoten. Camping there as a solo woman is very safe, as leaving your tent for the day, no one will touch it. About hiking, make sure your capacities are in line with the difficulty of the hike. Only the very touristy hikes are marked in Lofoten, most are not and you light not feel very safe so plan accordingly! And enjoy the views!

Norway is absolutely stunning. We went through a campervan rally from Germany to Sweden passing through Denmark and Norway (cruise). If Denmark resident it is a must to secure a transit permit for campervan with foreign plate numbers. Other than that, this very recent trip to other Scandinavian countries is amazing 🙌😊
Posted: June 5, 2024Experienced: April, 2024I felt safe everyday and everywhere, locals were so helpful and everyone speaks English, we booked the hot tub and sauna and it was really nice, it's easy to explore by car and there are many things to see, it's expensive but worth it
Posted: April 12, 2024I took a ferry and a bus to go camping alone in Kristiansund. I had a great experience. I never felt in danger. I did itch hiking on the way back to catch the ferry and I found a very kind man to drive me. I felt safe all the time even during the drive with a stranger.

Norway
I hitchhiked from southern to northern norway and it was overall a very safe and friendly experience. While couchsurfing in Oslo, I met some amazing people. Nature on the roads is unbelievably beautiful. There is a general quiteness in the head while being in this country.

I can recommend Norway for every female solo traveller! I've never felt that safe in a country, you can just put your tent up everywhere, hitchhiking works fine, people are incredibly kind and helpful! ❤️ I backpacked Norway from north (starting in Tromsø) to south (down to Kristiansand) and stayed with locals, camped, or booked hostels. I walked, took busses, trains, ships or hitchhiked. Honestly, I think Norway is the best country to do that! 10/10!
Posted: October 21, 2023Experienced: September, 2023Norway was my first independent trip abroad and it was amazing! Beautiful raw landscapes, well-marked hiking trails, interesting culture, and everyone spoke English. I felt really safe there (although I was still careful and cautious), and everyone was so kind and helpful.

I would say Norway is a very safe country. I often walk around alone, even at nighttime, and I've never felt unsafe. People generally mind their own business, meaning they will not approach or disturb you unless necessary. It is not common to be robbed or mugged. It is also fairly safe to leave your belongings unattended in public spaces like cafes or libraries for a short period of time if you have to use the toilet etc.

Like all places, precautions should be taken. In general, the country is safe and you can relax your guard a bit. I have personally not experienced violence and nor has anyone of my closest female friends. Just be smart under your stay (:

Travelled with a friend doing a road trip from bergen to Oslo. As avid hikers we wanted to explore the country and its beauty. We did ao muc hiking, we kayaker and wild camped.... it was absolutely amazing We absolutely loved this country The scenery, the Waterfalls, mountains and oh my god the fjords were absolutely stunning We fell in love, and would absolutely recommend
Posted: July 25, 2024Amazing trip, I have seen some of the best views and done amazing walks. Would totally recommend if you can afford it. Keep in mind Norway is really expensive (same prices as Switzerland!) and especially Lofoten as it is so far away from everything and most of the products are imported. I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what my budget was as I travelled with my family. Great great walks with amazing views, totally breath-taking.
