I love visiting Groningen - I absolutely recommend renting a bike to get the actual local authentic experience. The city museum is just fantastic, food options are diverse and exciting, lots of nice bars and cofee places, especially in the city centre and close to Rijksuniversity. The park is also a must see, and coffeeshops are safe also for a solo travellers that wants to try!

So far so good! Still got a few days to spare, but I've seen some of the city and explored a bit on Mt own without any problems.

Living in Groningen is amazing. There is a nightlive for students who come here to study. Also it quite save compared to other city’s in the Netherlands. Public transport is also fine in the city. You got everything you need to enjoy it here.
Posted: June 15, 2025Loved living here! It felt very safe. I have walked at 11pm from the station to my house, carrying large luggage, all on my own and the idea of a robbery never even crossed my mind. Very young and lively city.
