I love visiting Groningen - I absolutely recommend renting a bike to get the actual local authentic experience. The city museum is just fantastic, food options are diverse and exciting, lots of nice bars and cofee places, especially in the city centre and close to Rijksuniversity. The park is also a must see, and coffeeshops are safe also for a solo travellers that wants to try!

So far so good! Still got a few days to spare, but I've seen some of the city and explored a bit on Mt own without any problems.

Very safe, most people are easy going. Only Paddepoel, Vinkhuizen, Selwerd, and Oosterpoortwijk are a bit less preferable. Also at night it is best to keep business to yourself at the big stations. But overall a great city to be in.
