I love visiting Groningen - I absolutely recommend renting a bike to get the actual local authentic experience. The city museum is just fantastic, food options are diverse and exciting, lots of nice bars and cofee places, especially in the city centre and close to Rijksuniversity. The park is also a must see, and coffeeshops are safe also for a solo travellers that wants to try!

So far so good! Still got a few days to spare, but I've seen some of the city and explored a bit on Mt own without any problems.

Loved living here! It felt very safe. I have walked at 11pm from the station to my house, carrying large luggage, all on my own and the idea of a robbery never even crossed my mind. Very young and lively city.
Posted: February 22, 2025Sometimes there are some drunk people on the streets but they are not dangerous. There are some groups of boys in some parts of the city but they do not bother anyone except maybe if they know you and have a personal problem with you.

Hi, I’m Lineke, 35, travelled a lot in my 20’s, been to 42 countries so far. Now mid thirties I thought I’d give the nomad life another go; this time on wheels. Bought a cute van that will hopefully take me all around Europe! Maybe if you have a driveway or a big backyard I could park up for a night or two and we can exchange travel and life stories! I like travel, mountains, oceans and forests. I like going on roadtrips, swimming, hiking, watching movies&series and reading books. I’m a vegetarian & animal lover, a newly reformed Swifty and a hula hooper! (okay I haven’t hooped in a few years now, but ho(o)ping to get back to it during this next adventure!)

My name is Marije. I've been travelling a lot; for the adventure and sometimes for research during my study in Human Geography. My master research was mainly focused on the Arctic region. I love fine arts, painting and working with my hands. I'm also really into martial arts. I practised Judo for ten years when I was younger. Now I mostly do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It's wonderful to meet new people; sharing interesting perspectives and stories. I love to cook for others and to throw theme parties. I like it when I can meet up with locals when I'm somewhere and I also enjoy to act as a local myself when people visit my hometown!
