I came into Utrecht after two days in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the bigger city but it was hard to feel like I belonged somewhere- as soon as I got into Utrecht- the smaller scale of the buildings and vibrancy of all the little cafes and stores drew me in. Although I am nearly 50, I joined in with a group of locals in their 20s for drinks and later we went dancing which was so much fun as it had been years since I’d done so. Everyone was warm and inviting. No bad vibes entire stay

We had gone to a card tournament with our group of friends, so we didn't have any other activities. There was a shopping mall in the center. There was a lot of food selection there. So, as an allergic person, it was possible for me to find some dishes. There are some gluten-free options available like, for example, at Vapiano.

Felt good! Only problem I had was a date that stood me up... Luckily it's a vibrant city. Small, but fun! I spent a lot of time in the central mall near the station, honestly not a bad decision. They have great food hubs!

Utrecht is a safe enough city, I don't worry about getting hurt by anyone here, people are harmless and helpful. I also feel safe in the evening hours. If you want to travel here, don't worry about security. Of course, it is still useful to be careful with your belongings and not to go to very isolated places.
Posted: February 19, 2025Utrecht is close to the capital where a lot of tourists arrive, thus the rate of small crimes are a little higher, However, in Utrecht there is no such thing. It is a very Dutch populated city with a lot of international and Dutch students. I have been living here for almost 2 years and I have never felt unsafe.

Hi! I’m Eva and I’m 25 years old. I am currently travelling in South-America. I am planning on walking the Santiago de Compostella (I think the one in Portugal) in April or May. I would love to stay in Lisbon for a while and get to know the city and it’s people!

Hello! 🙋🏻♀️I I am a 24 year old Dutchy living in the most beautiful city of NL; Utrecht!🥰 I love to connect with people and I am always down for a good chat (and food!🙃)! As most people here I adore traveling, but I somehow always find my way back to Slovenia 🇸🇮 What I enjoy? Going out of my comfortzone although it scares the shit out of me😂

Hi! I am a (mostly) solo traveller looking for an authentic experience in any country I visit. Big fan of the outdoors but enjoy sleepy surfer towns and nightlife just as much. Favorite kitchen: Mexican.
