Solo travel

Leiden is a student city. It's overall very safe, but like everywhere else during the night in some places, you need to be more sharp. It has many museums and is called museum city. The botanical garden is very pretty from the end of March until the end of September. It has a cafe but you can also do a picnic. It's very pretty and located in the middle of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. You can walk everywhere, you don't need to take a bus. In 30 mins, you can be at the beach too (Katwijk or...

Overall Leiden is pretty safe. In the past 10 years I’ve lived here I’ve only felt unsafe a couple of times. Almost always at night and only in the dark alleys. The majority of te time it’s no problem to walk/cycle in the middle of the night, but like anywhere you do have to keep your wits about you.

It's quite safe but of course some precautions need to be taken as a woman. Pretty much the same everywhere in Europe. A bit more chill than Amsterdam to be honest, just be careful around the late hours. But really nothing to worry about. Been living here alone for so many years and gone out late etc. nothing weird ever happened to me.

Leiden si very safe city. It's small and at night it's usually quiet, not many people outside. There are street lights, not sketchy places etc. I feel safe here even going out at night, I sometimes go for a run around midnight and I have never felt threatened.
