Reims is a cool city to visit during the day, and it is lively at night too, but less safe during the night. Just don't end up alone in the streets when it is late. During the day everything is okay, the center of the city is cool and there are cool shops and bar to visit. Like any city, there are some zones that you should avoid if you are alone. But those zones are far from the center of the city.

I’ve been living in Reims for several years. I’ve experienced violence on public transport, and honestly, it’s hard to spend a morning, afternoon, or night alone as a woman without being stopped or harassed by men. That said, I generally feel safe during the day. At night, I stay alert and walk fast — especially when I’m alone.
