It's safer than other big cities in France, but it's still France so it's a bit dangerous if you're a woman alone in the night, unfortunately. The city center is okay, as long as you avoid some dark streets or some quarters it should be fine.
Posted: October 7, 2025It's a quiet little town with quite a few retirees. Not exactly a party town, but you can still find some nice little places, quite historic with a beautiful cathedral and historic center, a few shops, close to the sea and the countryside.

I think it's not a big city so there are no really dangerous people, but I can't say that it's more or less dangerous compared to other cities. Personally, I have never been verbally or physically assaulted regardless of the country. But Quimper is a small town that has its negative and positive points, the French can be tough, mean when they drive but I never felt in danger.

Quimper is a city pretty safe but some neighborhood like Kermoysan are a bit dangerous. Public transports are for me really safe. And I won’t walk alone in the dark except during the pride or events like that.

There are mediators who travel on the buses every day to manage conflicts if there are any. They also ensure that everyone is doing well. Still on public transport: many drivers are very warm, others colder, but always polite. There are very few homeless people, the train station area is not in my recommendations for being alone at night. There is the police station in the city center. Then the Kermoysan gendarmerie nearby. I find Quimper is very safe, but like in every city, we are never completely safe.
