The Guadeloupe was very interesting, the people have a very good vibes and help people we need help , it’s expensive but the local food it’s not and very good , specially the bokit. I very appreciate the sea dans nocturnal life ✨
Posted: November 13, 2025My experience was amazing !! I really recommend :) I did feel quite wary when i landed but two days in and i was hooked 🤩 I felt super safe, locals are friendly and welcoming ! I ate some delicious food everywhere I went 😋 Besides that I can’t really tell about the budget because my parents were in charge of everything, like the hotel where we stayed at and the pick up we rented for transport (wich i don’t really recommend in case it starts raining)!

Guadeloupeans are warm and welcoming and willing to help. Beware of bag snatching, pickpockets, or unattended bags, as everywhere :) Comments or whistling may occur, especially during the day. Most often, these behaviors are annoying (whistling, talking) but do not pose any direct danger. A car is almost essential (very few buses and schedules are not always reliable).

I had various positive solo-hitchhiking experience in Guadeloupe. Nonetheless, wether "cheerfuly" or in a creepy way, a scary number of men practice catcall. Some tend to behave aggressively. I remember when this gas station cashier, much older and taller than me, mumbled "you're so cute I want to take you with me, out of here". It was nasty, the way he wispered this being 1 inch away from my face... Beautiful place, but us women have to protect ourselves, like anywhere else.

Guadeloupe is a beautiful place but it is important to be careful and to not go to dangerous neighborhoods. It is also important to take in consideration that, even thought this island is paradise-looking, it also is one of the most dangerous french department with a high criminality rate. My best advice is to do some research before coming because i've seen so many people put themselves in danger without even realizing it.
