Grenoble was very nice. I got the chance to be hosted by a local for the weekend and she showed me around her favourite places. I loved the adventure of discovering a new city and especially through the eyes of someone who lives there and loves her city.

Grenoble is safe if you stay in the center of the city, and even in the said unsafe spots at the east of the center, you can still be safe most of the time, yes there is a lot of bad stuff going on but it is almost every time score-settling, so you are not the target. Just be careful with your bags, phone, etc (never let a bag visible in a parked car, and keep your phone and wallet close to you and visible)
Posted: April 28, 2026Grenoble is globally a safe place to go if you avoid the “cités” areas and I wouldn’t recommend to go to the parc Paul Mistral past midnight. In general avoid begin alone at nights on the street and everything should be fine.

As long as you are in a group or on a bike, especially at night, you should be safe. Grenoble is a pretty city, but suffers from a bad reputation. Some areas are a no-go. But you can enjoy the city center quite safely during the day and the start of the evening. Public transportation is safe from what i saw.

Always men to catcall and/or stare, avoid walking alone at night and avoid letting men talking to you randomly in the street (it is rarely for anything but harassment). There is a good app that's call The Sorority, allows you to warn other women in case of problems, they have your location and can come help you.

Hi there! I'm a French woman living in Grenoble for the moment :) I cannot really travel far for now because of work, so I would love to welcome travelers for some micro-adventures in Grenoble and beyond ! I am planning this trip with my lovely cousin in South Korea around May 2027 : if you have any tips or would like to share about experiences, please do reach out !
