Is French Riviera safe for solo female travelers?

The French Riviera is generally a safe destination for solo female travelers. Its popular cities and towns like Nice, Cannes, and St. Tropez are tourist-friendly. However, like with any popular tourist destination, it's always important to remain vigilant, especially in crowded places and during nighttime, due to pickpockets and petty thieves. Common sense and following basic safety precautions should make your journey safe and enjoyable.

How safe is French Riviera for female travelers?

Group travel

I went to French riviera during July 2025. I traveled with my girl friend group, so overall there was 8 girls together. We stayed in different cities (Nice, Menton, Anitibes, Cannes, Frejus) and we felt really safe everywhere we went. I really recommend using public transport like train, it was easy to use, not expensive and safe. During our whole stay we didn't come across any inconvenience and we weren't catcalled or anything similar. I would definitely go again.
