I feel Exeter is a relatively safe city for women. It's a small city, but there are always plenty of people around. Obviously everyone should be cautious when walking/travelling alone at night, but apart from that it's a great city to visit.

I never worry about walking at night on my own in Exeter. The crime rate here is low in general. Of course, you always need to have your wits about you, but if you do, I think it is a pretty safe city.
