Bratislava is pretty safe, since it’s small and not crowded, however there are some districts further from city centre to look out for in the night. Also during the nighttime when there are drunk people in the streets you need to be careful, there are catcallers and drunks trying to sexually harass.
Posted: September 4, 2025I would say that Kosice is a safe city overall but you have to be careful near train station and stations of public transport because there can be a few weird people looking at women - but not always, just sometimes. But overall I would say that Kosice is a safe city.

It’s fairly safe here, but you can’t completely ignore the possibility of encountering Roma people who might snatch something from you, offend you, hit you, or do something else. Overall, Slovakia has very friendly people, and in Žilina, incidents don’t happen very often. At least, nothing has ever happened to me — no one has stolen from me or hurt me in the three years I’ve been here, and, in general, I consider Žilina to be a fairly safe city. That said, you should be cautious of the Roma, but they are present throughout Slovakia, so it’s something to keep in mind.

Overall, the city is safe. But after dark you should use your discerment and I would recommend not to wear your headphones if you are walking alone. There is an issue with homeless people or drug addicts who will try to harass you, but you can avoid them easily if you are a little bit careful.
Posted: August 14, 2025Safe for solo traveling ladies. I live here for 8 years I do not have one single bad experience in public transfer, on the street or in public places. It is a small welcoming capital city for all the girls/genders/people

A small city, good for a city break. One day was enough for me to see the sights. In my opinion, it's safe, but at stations, stops, and on buses, I was sometimes approached by homeless people. When they heard I didn't speak their language, they left me alone. Great local wine.
