Žilina is overall safe and peaceful city. There has been incidents yet despite them, most of the locals are normal… maybe a bit grumpy but not in a threatening way. There are weirdos everywhere, but if you usually look at them angrily or tell them to piss off, they let you be. I’ve been living here sinice birth and I’d like to live in a city like this when I get older.

I feel usually safe during the day and in the evenings. At night I usually take a taxi. It can be pretty vacant and calm during the week in the city center, at the end of the week it’s moderately lively, mostly with young people.

Slovakia in general has a very low crime rate. Bratislava is the capital, so yes, more ppl = more problems and crime, too, but Ive never felt unsafe here. However I wouldnt recommend you to walk around the dark streets in the night in the red miniskirt or something like that..
Posted: October 1, 2024Bratislava is overall quite safe. I would say that Obchodna street can be dangerous for a solo woman because there are lot of drunk people. But i was there a lot of times because of the pubs and luckily nothing happened there. But you need to be careful
Posted: September 19, 2024Bratislava is usually a safe place for women to move or walk but it is better to use public transport or taxi after midnight. I advise not to walk alone at night and in suburb areas and not talk to drunk people especially in the city centre.
Posted: September 9, 2024I think Bratislava is very safe town, I live all life there. I have been only once sexualy harrashed in public transport. And one time my bag was stolen. But if I can compare, I delt more in danger in Paris or London.

I love my hometown. Piešťany is a spa city filled with a lot of cafes where people like to hang out. I believe this city has the potential to be more appealing to tourists and locals as there are a lot of people trying to organize events and stuff. Definitely recommend visiting this city during some traditional festivals. When it comes to safety, it's quite safe, but I do have to add that I was not that much into the club scene, so I can't talk about that experience here. My favorite coffee spots: Concept (in Arta center) Mlynček (under Kolonáda and close to the cinema Fontána) It's a nice city to relax and do some cycling and kayaking
Posted: August 29, 2024Hello,
Bratislava is an ultra safe town. Never felt unsafe, even in the evening. There might be parts, of course, as in any town, but the touristy part, center is super safe. Never even thought of any issues.
Posted: August 14, 2024Bratislava is commonly save city. I only recommend to be more careful in night time and during using of public transport. In the city are also some thiefs as everywhere, but I never experienced anything. Only my friends were stolen about bike.
Posted: August 1, 2024Turany is a small city in the middle of the Slovakia, which is dead by 10 pm, so walking during night on streets is reakly safe and you can only meet some drunk kids. The crime rate is really low and people during day are usually nice and can help you, even thought they tend to stare which is sometimes uncomfortable. The mountains above Turany are beautiful, and the tiusrist there are super friendly.

First of all, I would like to say that it is a very safe place for solo travel. Prices are not too high compared to other European cities. Their most famous dish is similar to halusky niyokki. you can try. Slavin, Slovak National Gallery, Blue Church, Bratislava Castle, Devin Castle are the places you should definitely go. 2 days will be enough to visit the whole city. It was pretty easy to find the buses with google maps. local people were very helpful. They generally know English. In summary, it is a place where you can go and see, but you should not keep expectatiın very high.
Posted: July 15, 2024Experienced: May, 2024It’s really safe for solo traveler to travel in their capital city, there’s not much things to do in Bratislava, I recommend to take a bus 20mins to a small town , there is a meditation circle on the hill of the town which is really amazing!
