First of all, I would like to say that it is a very safe place for solo travel. Prices are not too high compared to other European cities. Their most famous dish is similar to halusky niyokki. you can try. Slavin, Slovak National Gallery, Blue Church, Bratislava Castle, Devin Castle are the places you should definitely go. 2 days will be enough to visit the whole city. It was pretty easy to find the buses with google maps. local people were very helpful. They generally know English. In summary, it is a place where you can go and see, but you should not keep expectatiın very high.
Posted: July 15, 2024Experienced: May, 2024It’s really safe for solo traveler to travel in their capital city, there’s not much things to do in Bratislava, I recommend to take a bus 20mins to a small town , there is a meditation circle on the hill of the town which is really amazing!

Bratislava, Slovakia 🇸🇰 As a solo traveler, I think it's a safe city and prices are reasonable whether it's the food, coffee, or the tickets in general. 🩵 I have visited two restaurants and for €10 you can get a very nice quality of meals. Less than €3 can get you a nice quality and quantity of latte or cappuccino.
Posted: January 30, 2024Experienced: February, 2023I spent 2 days in Bratislava and that was enough for me. I visited Devín Castle in the first half of the day, and then I went to the center - Hrad, the Old Town, and covered all the major landmarks. The next day I went to see St. Elizabeth's Church, it was built from blue stone and looked amazing. It is located a bit off the beaten path, so I went there another day (after the main landmarks). I also combined this with a visit to Rusovce Castle, which offers beautiful views and has a large park.
Posted: May 28, 2023I was in Bratislava last month. Charming city, small, but there's plenty to do. However, it's not the best place for nightlife.
Posted: May 24, 2023Bratislava was nice and I felt safe. I stayed for one night and felt that was enough. I recommend a trip to Devín Castle.
Posted: May 21, 2023Bratislava is not too big, not too crowded, has a nice old town, a castle, and several very good museums, which are not big enough to get bored there. Amazing views of the Danube. There are many inexpensive restaurants, tasty food, and good beer and wine. I felt very safe there. I visited Devín Castle on a hill, located at the confluence of the Morava and Danube, a picturesque place.
Posted: May 20, 2023Bratislava is a rather small and pedestrian-friendly city. I visited it in one day. I stayed there in a hostel and it was quite okay. I felt safe.
Posted: April 9, 2023A few weeks ago I went to Bratislava. It was beautiful there, but there wasn't much to do. I realized that one day/night there was enough for me. We walked around the castle and entered several churches. We also went to the UFO tower just before dusk. We climbed up, took some pictures. Then we had some cocktails at the bar in the UFO tower. When we finished, we returned to the tower and saw Bratislava after dark. It was stunning!
Posted: December 13, 2022I visited Bratislava this summer. It took me about 6 hours to tour the city. It is very nice, but quite small. I felt safe all the time.

Žilina is overall safe and peaceful city. There has been incidents yet despite them, most of the locals are normal… maybe a bit grumpy but not in a threatening way. There are weirdos everywhere, but if you usually look at them angrily or tell them to piss off, they let you be. I’ve been living here sinice birth and I’d like to live in a city like this when I get older.

I feel usually safe during the day and in the evenings. At night I usually take a taxi. It can be pretty vacant and calm during the week in the city center, at the end of the week it’s moderately lively, mostly with young people.

I am looking forward to travelling the world and meeting new people. I have looked forward to the feeling of slight anxiety when leaving home for a new adventure for quite some time now. I am an extroverted, well mannered, strong-minded and well spoken young woman. My family has been a Couchsurfing host family for around 10 years now and I think it is the right time I experinece the other side of the spectrum(the guests side). I am accustomed to waking up to random backpackers being in my room and then talking to them and laughing all morning long. I am extremely excited for my new adventures and hope some of you reading this will be a part of my story. My plan is to go to medical school so I am trying to travel while I still have time⛰️
