Almada is safe as any other city. The city is quiet after 10pm so It doesn’t hurt to be cautious in certain hours but overall I don’t hear much about crimes in the area. The ones I did was about stores being robed and most of them for personal reasons.
Posted: December 25, 2024Lisbon is quite safe, at least during the day. At night one might want to get a little more careful, for instance I think it is best to ride a Uber instead of public transport, and always carry a charged phone with you
Posted: December 25, 2024Lisbon is a safe city, although you might have to watch for pickpockets. I have lived here my whole life and never had any problems, but I always take precaution, specially nowadays when there is a LOT of turists.

Matosinhos is a 3 in 1 pack, you have the city, you have the city park and you have the beach! Obviously nowadays there’s bad people everywhere so, just be careful in general. But it’s a chill place ✌🏻

I feel that Lisbon is very safe whether at 4 am at 6 or at the afternoon, although there will be some neighborhoods that are way less safe like martim moniz / odivelas / amadora but have been living here for more than 3 years and didn’t have trouble. People are respectful. Pickpockets are among us in tourist seasons but less than I’ve seen in other EU cities
Posted: December 25, 2024On the island, it's a small town, where crime levels are very low, there is no anonimity so social pressure does it job well to keep things civil. I've lost things to come back to them at the same spot hours later. I've had a couple of unpleasent experiences with men over the years: intense stares, catcalling and jokes. Overall I can say people are well intentioned and I feel very safe
Posted: December 24, 2024Lisbon is when of the safest cities in the whole world! Of course, some places should be avoided to walk alone during the night, but overall, is amazing for a solo trip (the entire Portugal). I really recommend for women travellers
Posted: December 23, 2024Generally very safe. There are some specific places that can be bit more complex especially during the night time. Nowadays with current Portuguese government we are also experiencing more racism xenofobia plus homofobia. Some places where the police might appear and force raids without explanation, like lgbtq spaces or areas with immigrants. Is sad! But the overall experience is safe for a woman to walk around alone.
Posted: December 23, 2024Portimao is one of the most famous city’s for summer in Portugal. It’s very popular because it’s in Algarve, we have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. In the winter you don’t have much to do here. You can surf but not much

Lisbon is a very safe place to visit. Although, as a woman, of course, its always better to avoid walking alone at night, I never had big problems with that... people are living their own life, they dont care that you're passing by. It is very unlikely that you will get mugged by day (or even by night, specially if you're with a group of people. If you're alone, better to just stay home). Happy about describing my home city as safe.

As a solo female traveler, I felt so safe here. Walking home alone at night from the pubs, strolling through the markets, meeting locals, I felt safe the whole time. I was only supposed to spend 1 week in Lisbon but I ended up spending 3 because the people are so lovely. Everything is inexpensive and I felt very welcomed by locals.

Lisbon is definitely my favorite city in Europe so far! People were always extremely friendly and nice, always eager to help. I have to mention pastel de Nara which are my favorite pastry ever. I’m counting days to come back there.
