I have been living here for almost 19 years since I was a child the least I had was a slight following incident but besides that I've been fine, I have cycled alone, biked alone, walked alone early mornings in the dark and even biked at night, it can be eery as there is no one much on the roads late at night but I haven't found any issues yet
