It's the safest city in China in my opinion. There are a lot of police on streets day to night and cameras almost everywhere in public. The infrastructure of the city is well-developed and a lot of security check at subway stations and the like.
Posted: March 18, 2025I have a hijab on and i felt fine walking alone at night when i needed to. Public transport was safe, walking on the streets too felt safe. But still though, avoid walking alone at night anywhere in the world just because it makes sense.
Posted: January 31, 2025you can walk lonely on the street at any time, no robbery, very few theft, havent heard of rape. there maybe beggers just ignore them, homeless people are usually sent back to their home town by police, so its rare too.
Posted: July 13, 2024Very safe city - I’ve been walking at night since teenage life and never had issues. I would recommend solo famale to consider this city as it is safe and easy to get around. Also more people in Beijing speak English than other Chinese regions.
Posted: June 22, 2024Beijing is definitely a safe place to travel and stay. You can go anywhere by public transportation at any time. I really love this city. Because China uses online paying, you don't need to be worried about theft. There are lots of high-educationed people living in Beijing.
Posted: June 17, 2024Beijing is a safe place to travel, but it is still necessary to beware of Chinese men, because most of them lack respect for women. If possible, it would be better to avoid staying with them alone, especially in private places.

I was in Beijing with my friend and her husband during 144-hour transit, we were able to shop and visit Universal, Great Wall of China. I haven't tried Chinese cuisine before this trip, so I suffered a bit but the overall experience was okay. Food was quite cheap especially domestic ones. Housing was on the expensive side, of our budget. The Beijing metropolitan was really nice and comfy. As we were in transit we were not allowed to go outside Hebei district. But it was quite okay.
Posted: March 10, 2025Experienced: March, 2024Being able to speak Mandarin would reallyyyy help. But if not, i have seen folks survive on Google Translate and VPN. Use Alipay and WeChat Pay for public transport, texi, food, everything really. I use Trip.com for hotels and high speed trains.
