Kunming, Yunnan is very safe. Pretty much in all of China I feel safe as a woman. Chinese people are usually very friendly and helpful. The crime rate in China is very low. You will definitely be looked at because you are a foreigner, but not in an uncomfortable way. It is more of curiosity and admiration
