Solo travel experience
I felt safe walking around the city on my own but sill stayed cautious. But typically the people there a very nice and helpful. Even just walking around the city was nice. It’s so picturesque! I stayed in Purmerend in a Hostel there. They where these cubes so I felt safe even in a mixed dorm. Transportation is easy but you need a card, otherwise you won’t get into the bus or trains there. You can get them online or at the train station in Amsterdam.

As Amsterdam is one of the more “expensive “ cities in Europe as well is one of the more fun with a lot of things to do. Also you can find a bunch of cheap or free things to explore such as parks, bikings etc. Is definitely a place where you feel safe and one to put in your list of “must go”in life

Group travel experience
We went to the Red Light District like everyone else. The men there are disgusting, even to people on the street and not just the girls in the windows. We were asked for drugs, stared at, yelled at—it was just so gross. I knew it was going to be weird being there.

I visited a friend who was an au pair in a smaller city around Amsterdam. We visited some places together, but I also travelled solo for a bit. Amsterdam is so lovely! As a fan of art nouveau architecture, can't recommend it enough. The city is small enough that you get to see and do a lot in a week. Travelling in September was perfect, because less tourists were around and it was mostly calmer. I recommend biking outside of the city, its easy to reach the countryside and see beautiful landscapes!
