For example, when I stayed in Lille, France, I arrived on a Thursday and my host was going to their community hall cultural dance and invited my friend and I to join in. So that night I got to learn old French line dancing. I could have never experienced this if I didn’t stay with a local. That’s why, when I travel, I try to stay with as many locals, so I can have some more genuine connections while traveling. Went for a Christmas vacation with family and it was delightful. The Victorian architecture was beautiful and the highlight of the trip was definitely the Butchart Gardens. It was decorated with lights for the holidays and it was a great time despite heavy rainfall that day
