Portugal is generally safe for solo female travellers. The country is known for its friendly locals and low crime rate, making it a great destination for solo female travellers. Women should still take the usual precautions when travelling alone, such as avoiding walking alone at night and being aware of their surroundings. Additionally, it is recommended to research the area before travelling and to stay in well-lit and populated areas.

Porto was probably my favorite town in Portugal but Lisbon was also great. Food and accommodation were inexpensive compared to other parts of Europe and people were friendly and I never felt unsafe. Took day trips to Sintra, Cascais, and Douro wine region. In the tourist areas, most people spoke English.
Posted: August 17, 2023Stayed in Porto for a few days then headed to Lisbon for four days. Felt very safe the entire time. I did some Airbnb experiences which were great as well. Visited in April and it was a great time to visit as it was already getting pretty warm. Highly recommend it.
Posted: August 17, 2023Spent 9 days in Portugal, including Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, and Lagos and it was incredible. The people were lovely and I never once felt strange or uncomfortable traveling alone. I felt very safe the whole time.
Posted: August 15, 2023Portugal can be a safe destination for solo female travelers, but it's important to take some precautions to ensure your safety. Here are some safety tips for solo female travelers in Portugal:
As with any destination, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Be aware of any suspicious activity and trust your instincts.
When travelling alone, it is important to stay in well-lit areas, especially at night. Avoid dark alleys and deserted streets.
Carrying large amounts of cash can make you a target for theft. Consider using a credit or debit card instead.
Avoid wearing or carrying expensive items such as jewellery or electronics that could make you a target for theft.
Never accept rides from strangers, even if they seem friendly.
When out at bars or clubs, never leave your drinks unattended. This could leave you vulnerable to being drugged.
Before you leave for your destination, let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return.
Carrying a whistle can be a great way to draw attention to yourself if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
Make sure you have a mobile phone with you at all times. This can be used to call for help if needed.
Before you travel, research the area you are visiting. This will help you to be aware of any potential dangers and plan accordingly.

Hello! I’m 18 years old and I live in Milan. If I have to described me with few words I surely say cheerful, funny and straightforward. I’m a really determined person and I can adapt to everything! The people who know me best could define me as a non-sporty girl but they wouldn't say I'm a lazy one either. In fact, I'm sportive when I really like the activity I'm doing, otherwise, I can't truly appreciate it. Sometimes I must stay alone but, at the same time, I need to stay with my friends hanging out and laugh with them. I'm generally friendly and curios, for this reason in this my experience I would like to meet new different people and new places. I love talking with people and try to help them, if this happens my sweetness, one of my best qualities, comes out and you can be sure I will always be next to you for every problem and difficulties. I'm always been impressed by art. Every type of it. I'm sure this thing came from my mother and her artistic bent. Unfortunately, I haven't brought from her the skill to can draw and paint, but certainly, I've learned the freedom to be whatever I want. I love travelling and take pictures, I always bring with me my camera. I enjoy adventures and the simplicity. Low cost travel, rich in emotions :)

I have a full 48 hours in Porto and was thinking of doing one day dedicated to sightseeing and book a Douro Valley Wine tour for the other day. In regards to the sightseeing, I’m torn if I should do the hop on hop off bus or just pick a few main sights and walk it/take a walk around the city. If you’ve been what do you suggest?
