Charlotte is relatively easy to navigate, thanks to its logical layout and multiple modes of transport. The city's grid system is easy to understand, and the public transportation options such as buses, trams, and bike rentals are efficient. However, the city covers a large area, so some places may require a bit of traveling time. Overall, for most parts of the city, you can get around conveniently without a car.

Charlotte offers a wide range of fun activities and things to do. Known as the Queen City, you'd be enthralled by the Uptown neighborhood where a host of cultural and art centers are located, such as the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Shopping enthusiasts will find an array of boutiques in South End, while those who get excited by sports can indulge in an adrenaline rush at the NASCAR Hall of Fame or the Carolina Panthers stadium. Is Charlotte worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

I stayed in charlotte for less than a month it was great and I felt very safe. I was greeted respectfully and everyone was friendly. 10/10 would recommend coming to Charlotte Nc. I was paying $25 a night for a great place.

Solo travel experience

Charlotte is really fun! Lots of art scene, lots of breweries too if you drink,(I don’t) Very friendly people! Lots of dogs!( it’s a dog city) it’s also a small city, so it’s kinda cozy Very diverse too.

In a young woman living in CLT and my overall point view of Charlotte is safe. It has it areas where I might feel uncomfy but overall a great place to live and walk around. I walk my dog all around the city and have never had problems. I would tell all my friends to move here

Beautiful, green, full of parks, breweries and fun outdoors activities! Not a city full of history or museums, but if you are outdoorsy and love hanging out in a beer garden, this is your perfect city!

Local tips

There is so much do to in Charlotte, we have two amazing lakes! We are 2 hours south of the Appalachian mountains with great hiking spots. Charlotte has a white water center with so many outdoorsy adventures. We are thankful just any other city we have so many options!! As a woman I do feel safe doing many activities alone

Downtown Charlotte area has a lot to offer, from pubs, bars, lounges, entertainment, restaurants and shops. Area is safe for travelers even for our women who like to travel solo. Our downtown area has plenty of lights and artistry for women to enjoy.
