Did I feel safe? Mostly yes, but with caution. Air raid alerts happen, and you need to stay updated. People go on with life, but the war is still real. I felt safe during the day in central areas, especially with locals around. Things to do / skip: Do: – Walk around Podil, Andriyivskyy Descent, and Mariinsky Park – Visit St. Sophia’s Cathedral and Kyiv Pechersk Lavra – Check out local bookshops and cozy cafés – Try a banya (Ukrainian sauna) for a unique experience Skip: – Expensive tourist...

Kyiv is relatively safe when it comes to everyday crime. I generally feel comfortable using public transport, walking around the city, visiting cafés, and exploring different neighborhoods. Locals are usually friendly and willing to help if needed. However, it is impossible to talk about safety in Kyiv without mentioning the war. The main risk comes not from the people or the city itself, but from Russian missile and drone attacks. Air raid alerts are a part of daily life, and travelers should...

Due to the unstable political situation, the country as a whole is more dangerous than it is in peacetime. But at the same time, life goes on and the city is bustling. Especially during the day, everything feels completely normal. Businesses are open, various festivals and concerts are held from time to time, and people are rushing about and working hard. In Kyiv, shelling can occur at night, but not every day. For safety’s sake, it’s best to head to the nearest shelter. There’s also a curfew...
Posted: June 20, 2026For me Kyiv is a safe place, you can attend lots of events and stuff without feeling scared or nervous. It feels much safer than Berlin for example, but maybe it's just me, i don't know. The only scary place is ДВРЗ but i really don't think that tourists go that far away from center

I would say that Kyiv is pretty safe. During the day, you don’t need to worry, but at night it’s always better to avoid dark, lonely streets. Don’t forget to check where the nearby bomb shelters are and download an air alert app

I'm an artist creating decorations for various cultural events (photo booths, stage backdrops etc), living in the city centre. I have a pullout couch to host someone (preferably 1-3 nights), but I am also open to just meeting new people who come to Kyiv to tell them more about life here in Ukraine 💙💛
