I have never experienced anything crime related and never heard about it in my social circle. Of course it is important to stay vigilant at all times, but considering situations with crime groups in some European countries, Ukraine and Kyiv especially stays pretty safe space (not taking into account drones and missiles flying over your head (buttt, nothing will happen to you if go to shelter as soon as air raid alert is announced!!) š« ). As I know, police response time is also quite good. I donāt think that Iām being biased towards my city, but there is a chance that my environment and life were quite peaceful and safe because of my family compared to someone elseās.

Well, thereās the war happening currently, so, if youāre lucky enough not to get hit by a missile āKyiv is rather safe š When walking outside, I donāt feel any concerns about being attacked or, god forbid, kidnapped. At nights criminals are not crawling around, no active criminals who take lives are knownš¤

if you are not afraid of war then you should not worry about other problems. at night it is quite safe because of the curfew and during the day there are many places to go. so war is the only thing worth worrying about

I would say itās a safe city but today because of terrorist state russia itās kinda dangerous. Because of war it can be air alarm with drones attacking sometimes. So itās not a good time to travel , but still we have a lot of foreigns tourists here
Posted: May 1, 2025The most dangerous things in Kyiv are russian missiles and drones. Every other aspect is pretty safe. I feel really safe in Kyiv during the day or evening, and at night we have curfew, so you aren't supposed to be outside.

Considering political situation it is not that safe as was, but in the capital city it is moderately safe. As for crime level it is low. Even nowadays there is a lot of foreign tourists and Ukrainians are always happy to help with almost any issue.

During the war there are some problems with safety. But in general as I live in city centre I feel comfortable and safe enough. We have shelters in case air alert and you can stay in the underground.

It's not the safest place in the world, okay? We have war now and etc. You can have not wanted attention from mens, but they really not often even touch you, but you always can feel the stare. I never been robbed here or assaulted. You just need to have your stuff with you
Posted: April 13, 2025Overall, i find Kyiv to be a pretty safe city for tourists. Yet, itās better to stay in districts close to the centre. I would say that the crime level is no bigger than average. Older people sometimes can be homophobic or not welcoming. Nevertheless, itās not very common.

Kyiv is a big city, so it depends on a district. I live and study in central part, where safety is hight. The part of Kyiv which is on the left bank of Dnipro river is more unsafe, up to robbery etc. Also some distant districts are unsafe. We sadly have some homeless and drunk people around, which can also make some places unsafe. Public transport is well-organized and safe. On most of streets there are lights at night. Well, now, when it's war, it's all a bit different. People are more organized, not going outside at night. Anyhow, being a typical person from central part of Kyiv, I don't often worry about not being safe.
