Nice calm city but on Sundays everything is closed so be aware of that. I was there with my bestie both feel safe uber was safe as well only the Main Street was a bit scary bc of party people. Zürich is very expensive but so pretty. I recommend you to visit rheinfalls
Posted: January 21, 2026I visited Zurich in April. It wasn’t very warm outside, so I would recommend to visit it closer to summer. Overall, it was a good experience. The city is walkable and public transport is excellent. The only thing to take into account is that Zurich is considered one of the most expensive cities, and it was indeed quite pricy

Zurich felt easy and calm. I got around with public transport, had a trip in to nature and saw the mountains nearby. It was rainy the first days but when the sun came out everything began to shine :))

Walked around well past midnight when I was there, there were some groups of people out but it was quiet and incredibly safe. Bring an empty water bottle to fill up at the fountains and highly recommend taking a quick walking tour when you first get there to get oriented. The food was pretty good - def get a group together to go to fondue

I took a day trip to Zurich from Milan. I think one or two days is totally enough for Zurich. People were really kind and there is no chance that feeling of any danger. It is so expensive city ( even we did not stayed at there) to compare other european cities. I liked the vibes of beer saloons, you can eat and drink your beers.
Posted: May 28, 2025I felt safe, but everything was really expensive and quite out of my reach. I liked the city even if it rained a little, and liked the people I met there. The only problem is that there is not much nightlife.
Posted: May 12, 2025Experienced: March, 2021Switzerland may be one of the safest countries I've been to, I think it's very safe for women. Zurich was very nice but I couldn't find much to do in the winter, it's still peaceful and beautiful, ideal for a 2-3 day trip. I don't think they have very good food, food and accommodation are extremely expensive.
Posted: March 31, 2025Experienced: January, 2025Really safe for females and solo travellers who travel like local and surrounded by genuine nature, the weather is perfect to enjoy an adventurous outdoor activities like picnicking , hiking, strolling. Local pastries and foods are worth to eat I might probably one of the lucky person that I met a local who is frankly amiable and share her experience as a urban guide which an expensive experience and we still keep in touch.

That was my very first solo travelling experience. Zurich was so safe and pretty. Although I spent a lot of money fro food and transport, I enjoyed there to the fullest. At night I stayed with a couple who I hadn't met before. They were super nice people and prepared dinner for me and welcomed me with kind hugs. It felt so amazing being solo traveller and making such a perfect connection there.
Posted: August 8, 2024Experienced: February, 2024Really beautiful city with beautiful nature landscapes of course. The center of Zurich feels like Europe and has a nice mix of history and architecture. But the real magic of the city is on the outskirts. Really recommend taking a car out to some of those beautiful nature spots and enjoying the real Switzerland

Zurich is pretty save as I lived here for some time, nonetheless it is the biggest city in Switzerland meaning it attracts all kind of people. As a woman traveling alone, maybe just take use of the very big public transportation network when it comes to late night walking in „lonely areas“ especially on the weekends. Other than that you‘re very save especially during the day :)
Posted: August 1, 2026Zurich is very safe. I can go home safely back home even in the middle of the night. Of course there are incidents that have been reported, but it's not often at all. I also wouldn't say that there are many drunk people or sketchy guys during the night compared to other large cities.
Posted: June 4, 2026It’s overall very safe, as someone from Tokyo and Seoul. I never felt any danger or threats, but Langstrasse and the area behind the Zurich HB, or HB itself in general, are considered unsafe. Lots of drug addicted people and drug dealers at night.

Zurich is VERY safe. I am not local and it is one of the cities I felt the safest in my life. During day and night. There is a lot of public transport that is very safe and you can always take. If you are ever in serious trouble people will help you.
Posted: May 13, 2026Can have weird people, especially during the night and on weekends. It‘s sort of like the red light district of Zurich. Make sure to have someone with you or avoid it when it‘s dark. During the day, it can also have sketchy people but it‘s not that dangerous overall.

Super safe, from my personal experience and the area I was in people didn't even lock their doors but this might be a bit uncommon still reflects the attitude around general safety. Even at night the streets are safe and a local even helped to jumpstart the car!
