Petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching can occur, especially in crowded places, so it's always a good idea to keep your belongings secure and close to you. Civil unrest may happen occasionally but it rarely affects tourists. It is important to stay informed about the areas you visit and maintain common safety precautions, such as not walking alone late at night in less populated areas.

Malmo is quite navigable with a comprehensive public transportation system, including buses and trains. Additionally, the city is bike-friendly with numerous paths and lanes. English is widely spoken which makes it easy to ask for help. However, during peak hours, public transport can be crowded.

Malmo is brimming with many enriching activities and attractions. As a solo female traveler, you can experience an eclectic array of activities. The city's modern architecture, especially the Turning Torso, is a sight to behold. The numerous parks, such as Kungsparken and Slottsträdgården, offer opportunities for relaxation and exploration. History buffs will find delight in the age-old Malmo Castle, while fans of modern art can visit the Moderna Museet Malmo. Additionally, Malmo's food scene, featuring an excellent blend of traditional and global cuisine, will be a treat to your taste buds. The city is also known for its lively shopping scene from designer boutiques to street shops, especially on the pedestrian shopping street.

Malmö's food scene might surprise you with its diversity and quality. From international cuisine like Japanese sushi, Middle Eastern falafel, Italian pizza and pasta, to Swedish meatballs and seafood, there is no shortage of options. The city has also embraced the street food culture, and you can find food trucks selling various delicacies. The vegetarian and vegan scene in the city is impressive as well, catering to the dietary needs of all travelers. However, it may get a little repetitive if your stay is prolonged. The quality of ingredients used is generally high, and the prices reasonable.

Budget:Moderate

Malmo sits about mid-range for budgeting. Living costs, food, and accommodation can be quite expensive compared to other destinations. But its wealth of free natural and cultural attractions, as well as public transit, can help offset these costs.

Solo travel experience

I didn't fall in love with this city, this might have been due to the season in which I was there (November), but the place seemed quite empty and expensive to me. I only spent one day there (arriving by train from Copenhagen) and I felt safe all the time.
